MTN Business increases subscriber bandwidth for free

Here's me being stupid: Doesn't giving customers "up to 50%" more bandwidth only equate to getting 1.5 times more and not actually doubling bandwidth?

Exactly. Double the bandwidth would be 100% more bandwidth... very misleading headline :(

Yeah, the man on the street also needs some "Gimme Gimme"

Understandable that corporates with high usage will get discounts, it's all about the volumes.
But the consumer for these corporates almost never get the benefits of savings.
These larger companies still push out huge profits and dividends to shareholders each year.
Yes, it stimulates the economy, but with the economic climate as it is, the man on the street needs to make ends meet and fight to keep a meal on the table.
Meanwhile we've got banks that rip us off, bread manufacturers that do the same and just about everything else.

Find me a company that passes on savings to "The man on the street" and then I'd personally let them have my positive commentary.

Though on a prepaid level from MTN: "I'm still stoked" :D

It is double: Download 2gb, claim 50% (1gig) back, thus you get 2gb for the price of 1gb.

Or is it?

will be able to claim up to 50 percent more bandwidth at no extra charge

So, you download 1gb, and claim 50% more, you end up with 1.5gb. This is stupid!

What good is more bandwidth when your server at their datacentre dies because of a faulty breaker with no redundancy?

Almost fooled,50 more and double are two different amounts...better to rely on t&c than headlines...

A big mistake from our side - corrected.

I wonder how it works, this getting 'up to' 50% free? People on 2Mbps circuits are not usually charged by the byte, just for the capacity. Does one have to up ones leased line circuit to make use of this or is this wireless connections or some other thing?

MTN Business is increasing bandwidth. (E.g. Gigabits-per-second)
They are not (yet) increasing data bundle sizes. (E.g. Gigabytes)

We believe that there is already a disconnect between the amount of bandwidth customers require and the amount of bandwidth they can afford

You think?
