Mtn is changing there contract structures, I was at the mtn store yesterday and speaking to the guy he showed me that he went to a meeting yesterday and MTN is changing their packages to be in-line with Virgin packages.
I had a look and it will be structured just like virgin where you get say R100 to spend, plus per second billing from the first second, and a few sms's for free.
There is a any time package and a off peak package. they vary from R50p/m to R1500p/m. So you say get R50 anytime, e.g. R50 to spend.
He said that this should be come into effect in a couple of weeks.

Well it seems as though nobody believes me... lol :-)

He said that it wont be effecting existing contracts.

I remember something like this in Serbia when Telenor came in. Before, contracts were like here (300 free minutes/30 free sms for 500 dinars approx R50) and the higher you go the less you pay (i was paying approximately 90c per minute, on a per second plan). then they switched it to 500, 1000, etc packages where you have to spend 1000 dinars (100 rand) a month and the prices of a call were lower the higher you went... hope this helps (and i have heard of something happening in mtn, but the guy cant give me details... will phone someone else to see if its true)

cheers

There aren't any links.
Oh and it will affect everyone when you upgrade anyway.
Yes well that's about how it will be. You will also pay the same amount across all networks.
the packages are very similar to that of Virgin mobile.
You will get like a R50 peak time package with R50 so e.g. plus minus 20minutes of call time and I think 20 sms's free. You will pay R2,30p/sec in bundle and R2,80p/s out of bundle. But rates change with every contract.

Sounds like less value for money than what I am paying now (R29 per month on MyCall 100).

Yip, Like I said its going to be like Virgin mobiles packages, and increasing with R50 and not just limited to V0, V100, V500.
This is all for the new law to simplify packages. So you can compare apples with apples.
Most probibly Voda and cellc will follow.
