MTN changing their contracts!

This is rediculous, also have an upgrade coming up, lets see what they say.

The only nice thing that happened is that is per second billing now from the first second.
I say they should have just brought in per second billing with the existing contacts.
that would have been fair....

If you are a MyCall 100 subscriber, then you can "upgrade" to Anytime 200 with no additional charge, but if you would like to take a cheaper option you have to pay an extortion price, in our case between R300 and R400!!!!!!!
Is this an "early upgrade", i.e. you still have a couple of months to go on your contract?
Normally when your 24 month contract is up you can change to whatever package you like without incurring a penalty.
Try and do it before, even in your 23rd month, and there'll be a charge.

Beware of "early upgrades", do that three times in a row and you are looking at up to 12 extra months after your 24 are finished.

I hope they will make it possible to move from contract to prepaid because if they don't, I will move to Virgin. So much for loyalty.

mmm my girlfriend had that problem, She had to first change to virgin for two months from her contact phone and then back to mtn at the end of the two months to go onto pre paid.... but they can easily change you from pre paid to contact with in a few hours.... I wonder what's the problem...

Quick question - I cant find this anywhere: I am currently on a Procall 120 and am due for an upgrade. What happens if I don't upgrade? Will I stay on Procall 120 and pay month-2-month or will I automatically renew into a new contract?

If you don't upgrade you will stay on a Procall 120 on a month to month contract. Why anyone would do that is beyond me but yes, you are correct

ja, you will stay on a month to month basis and pay the full amount with no free phone, but when you go in for your upgrade you will have to pick one of the anytime packages.

You mean why anyone would stay with MTN or not chose to upgrade? For the first - me thinks "Better the devil you know" for the latter -- I have a N95 8GB and there is nothing out there appealing enough (iPhone sux, hoping for a HTC HD with QWERTY)

My wife got the Omnia with a Anytime 500. The phone is pretty, battery life sucks (recharge everyday) and she is not even a heavy user (and WLAN/3g/bluetooth switched off, powersaving enabled).

No, sorry you misunderstood me.

What I ment was why anyone would like to stay on the Procall 120 above the MTNanytime packages. You can still change your package and not upgrade. But you will save money on the new packages ;) It has been calculated in dept in another section of this forum ;)

OLD vs NEW

Also, go work out the detail, you pay a heck of a lot more for allot less! R200 for R200 airtime, that works out around 85 minutes. What the hell happened to R130 and 100 minutes FREE???? So they now charge you for your previous "free minutes".

I think the biggest mistake for many users is to compare OLD & NEW packages ; like it tomatoes cheaper than onions?

First the 100 minutes on a MyCall100 is divided into 85 OFF PEAK and 15 PEAK minutes, secondly this package also had 3 different inter-network tariffs and thirdly the calls were billed for the 1st minute and then 30 second intervals.

Now with an AnyTime200 a call of 1 min 15sec PLUS a call of 35sec would NOT be billed as 1min 30sec and 1min calls as in MyCall100.

One must remember that with a package like MyCall100 a LOT of subscribers OVER BILLED on their 15 peak minutes.

There is also the comfort that if any other services are used; Video Calls, SMS after free allocation, Premium Rate SMS, content, etc; they are deducted from your airtime balance.

The approximate minutes indicated on th NEW AnyTime packages are there as a guideline when migrating from OLD to NEW.

The BIGGEST factor is ..how are you managing your current tariff plan you have?

Regards

They are deducted over and above your allocated airtime... and not deducted from your given airtime.

Why did she come back??

If MTN want you to move away, why come bacK?

I would give Virgin a chance, and if they are even slightly less full of ****e than MTN, I would stay!

Call rates seem cheaper, and Data rates are great. I assume the reception isn't as great, but could live with it...

About the new contracts, and the existing contracts, since the announcement of the new packages.... how do u check airtime now?
Dialing 258 or *141# doesn't work anymore. (for my phones anyways)
The chick from Nashua Mobile tunes u should now sms CA to 32940
So, is this sms billable, or deducted from prepaid airtime?
Also, I have a MyChoiceTopUp150 (migrating to Anytime200 monthend), usually if the airtime is fin, I cannot make calls or sms's, since theres no more munny on.
When I tried the sms CA to 32940, it went thru, and came back with reply that Balance is R0.00, yet I am still able to send sms's and make calls
So what is the going method for checking airtime since package change? (on prepaid and contract?)

Make sure that you are on the topup package and not the normal one.
