Hi,

Is is possible to buy a "pre-paid" data bundle on my existing contract?

I don't want to subscribe to x amount of data per month at a fixed fee.

Occasionally I need to use a bit more data, and only then want to buy a bundle to take advantage of cheaper data rates.

Also, if this is possible, does it carry over?

Ideal would be if I could buy a once of 500mb and use that until finished maybe?

Anyone else have any suggestions on how to approach this issue?

Regards

They people at my mtn branch said I should just load a bundle and then cancel it at the end of the month

ITalk, but I saw the activation fee cost on mtn.co.za.
The once-off connection fee only applies if you're taking out a new data contract, there's no fee to add a bundle to an existing contract.

Ok, so I just stumbled upon this what looks to be nifty ISP.

If I understand everything correctly ... I buy data from them, then I can use it on my ADSL, 3G or at any of their 11000 international WiFi hotspots.

Best thing is that their 3G works out 62c MB and its cheaper in happy hour and weekends.

Best thing is that the data you bought does not expire.

And it seems as simple as changing the APN settings on your phones internet connection setup.

Might even use them for my ADSL, more or less same price, with better benefits.

Has anyone heard about them, or using them?

Ad Hoc Data vs PSD Data Bundles

Noticed on MTN Active that they now have "Ad Hoc Data Bundles" that can bo loaded on an existing contract. These bundles are once off and will expire after 60 days.

Previously I used the PSD Bundles which were loaded to your account automatically each month. These bundles caused a lot of confusion for me.

I will be trying out the 2GB Ad Hoc Data Bundle @ R389 and spread it out over 60 days. That should work for me for the time being & is on par with Neogo (inc device & if I dont exceed my bundle)
