MTN cuts off Cell C number range

MTN = Tehran
I see they now being run by the Revolutionary Guards :D

Funny, I am in for an upgrade next month (in a weeks time), and I am also considering not taking the upgrade and moving to another network, this after being with MTN for almost 6 years.

Been with MTN for about 14 years now, but I've had enough of their BS service and no selection of decent smartphones again, my contract expires in May and I will be moving over to Vodacom, can't wait.

I am thinking about using 8ta, the phone I want is R500 less from them on the same contract, and I get to use the free calls to one telkom landline number which I am calling my parents on regularly. Sadly they still roam on MTN's network, but at least where I work and stay there are already 8ta towers in range.

Has anyone here noticed how blatantly obvious MTN makes it that their shareholders are more important than us customers. I am of the impression that they have very very happy shareholders since the bottom line doesn't take a hit like their subscriber impressions do! OK the honesty is good since many companies are like that, but still it feels whack!

Is MTN that bad? I was thinking of porting from Vodacom to MTN, since Vodacom's upgrade deal on their Talk packages are so absurd.

Hedge yourself. Buy MTN shares but don't use their service.

The only time a VC talk contract is worthwhile is when u take a new contract, upgrade never. CellC RBM will get my business from now.

I ported away from MTN yesterday, after 2 years in billing hell.

Why does Cell C not block all MTN VAS Services until such time as MTN respond?

Because ICASA will do nothing......

Oops, another PR disaster for MTN. Recently we had the so-called smart-phone bundles, then the 2GB data bundle price drop which didn't drop yet and now this. ROFLMAO MTN.

I also checked for new Talk packages on Vodacom. They do not have any as per their so called "new" and "updated" website. A lot of packages on the Business Plan, R185 per month, per minute billing, which sucks! How is the service, data speeds and coverage on Cell C / RBM?

I suspect they gonna get fined.. then again it is an interconnect agreement so it depends on how they 'claim' why they blocked it. illegal - untraceable end to end coms.. ok.. to avoid leaked revenue big fine slap. 2ndly If CellC could always whine but they won't.

thanx MTN,please block anything marked "VAS' and 'subscription' from my number

..I cant see MTN doing this purposely. Think about all the revenue MTN will loose, thats something the shareholders will moan about.

There is something else going on here. Its pretty tricky to block a number range specifically like that.
