MTN Data Billing

Just got the following sms from MTN:

Good day, MTN is aware of duplicate GPRS Records billed during Nov and Dec 2009. The problem has been rectified and a full credit for the In and Out of Bundle value will be issued to you via your Service Provider. You will retain any Loyalty Points earned by this usage. MTN apologizes for the inconvenience.

Just received mine. I wonder if this also includes "alleged" out of bundle data calls for Sept 2009 on the Jan 2010 account.

I am ready to take MTN to court if they don't resolve this to my satisfaction. Here is an excerpt from my Invoice this month (my invoice is usually R1800pm including data & phone)

This invoice
Outstanding Balance
R 9,959.14

I also was billed for data usage in September 2009. I feel they are totally in the wrong, as what is the point of having a service where you dial 258 to hear: "As of 23 Jan 2010 you have 1.6gb remaining on your 2gb bundle...blah blah blah.....", if you have 1.6gb remaining...OBVIOUSLY you're going to download something!!!! otherwise you waste it!!! Don't come to me afterwards and tell me that you _did_ use it, we just didn't bill you for it, and in the contract it says you are allowed to back bill me 3 months!!!!!!

Either you then lie about my account EVERY MONTH, and you GUESS my average usage, or you lie to me about the information you give me on 258!!!

Then for those of you interested in doing an experiment on your data usage. Isn't there "One out of bundle rate" once you've reached your data bundle limit??

Why then on my records from September are certain calls:
1. R1.05/mb
2. R1.11/mb
3. R1.07/mb
4. R1.23/mb
5. R1.09/mb
6. R1.06/mb
7. R1.14/mb
8. R1.71/mb
9. R2.56/mb!!!
10. R10.50/mb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
11. R1.10/mb
12. R1.02/mb
13. R1.86/mb
14. R0.17/mb

THAT'S 14 DIFFERENT BILLING STRUCTURES!!!!!!!!!
Does this mean I may cancel my contract? This is what i really want to do!!! I have 1 year left however!!!!

I simply do not trust MTN anymore with data billing! Can anyone help?

September is more than 3 months ago - tell 'em to go fly if that's what it says in your contract.

Looking at the new influx of complaints, I am so so so so very glad I got out.

I got a sms from MTN today saying.

"Mtn is aware of duplicate GPRS records billed during Nov and December 2009. The problem has now been rectified and a full credit for the in and out bundle value will be issued to you via your service provider. Mtn apologises for the inconvenience"

NOW WHAT ABOUT THE PREVIOUS SCREW UPS MTN.

Our contracts are ending soon Goodbye MTN.

This 3 month thing was only added AFTER their stuff up. I scrutinized their small print after their April over billing and did not see this.
Anyway, my bill states that it is MONTH to MONTH.

If their data counter states that you have 30 MB left then you can use it or loose it. Not so. Why or how can it be 3 months behind.
You purchased the service in good faith that it would work correctly. If it does not work correctly, then it is their problem and you can lawfully withhold payment.
They must fix their counter to show in real time and not come back to say "Our data counter cannot update daily. Some days are missed and you will be billed out of bundle later, perhaps 3 months later
"

Yip, I just went over my latest bill and I am still being billed for stuff in September at out of bundle rates, even though my September invoice shows I have unused data on my package carried over to October.

How far back are we allowed to contest an invoice?

I forgot to add.
I have printed proof of my mtnactive website that shows that my account has NOT been updated for 10 days. AND these 10 days have then been charged as OOB 2 to 3 months later even though I had enough MB left and with a rollover.???
