Mtn Data

Recent news of Skype being billed at high rates on MTN is rather alarming. Is this true? I have only just managed to get Skype running (for the first time since my dial-up days). Thus, I don't use it much :-) but about twice a year I Skype to the UK. Surely this is just part of my 100MB bundle????????

Can't use free minutes once bill limit has been reached

One one of my MTNSP contracts I reached the bill limit and I am now unable to use my off-peak free minutes, is there a way this can be sorted out without removing the bill limit service.

Once the new cycle starts and you allocated the free min, the suspension is removed.

I understand that, but what happens is that I can only carry over free minutes for two months. At the Moment I have over 150 off-peaks minutes remaining but I am unable to use it so the 65+ minutes just get wasted when the new 85 off-peak minutes are added at the end of my billing cycle which is the middle of the month. Is there any way that you (MTNSP) can allow me to just use my free minutes once I reach the limit.
 
Hello, any idea when MTN resolve it's ongoing data connection problems, Been almost a week and the data connection is so intermittent.

What is the MAIN things to look for when you receive a Data Packet Loss??..Im with MTN and get this error occasionaly every 2 days...then i have to restart my phone ( N70 ) and itll work...I have contacted Nokia, but all they told me is remove the batt for 15 min ( as well as the memory card ) and try again...but still get the prob...Personaly i think its got something to do with connecting to MTN server...Is there maby a Proxy Server that you know of that i can use on my phone including the correct settings???...thx a bunch :)
 
Data bundle issue...

Do you still have to wait a month to reload your data-bundle with MTN? That really used to piss me off when I had used up my bundle...and I ended up switching over to Vodacom although MTN has better 3G coverage in my area.

Yeah you do. If you want to use MTN just stock up on 99c prepaid sims. ;)

I know all palms or PDA work differently but all we want is the settings to put in. For instance, I have a Zire72, I know how to go to Network and create a new service and set up innit strings and set it to make me coffee in the morning. All I want to know is what strings to put in? what number must it dial? should i put a username and password in? Those kind of things will be UNIVERSAL no matter what palm or PDA you may own. What are these settings? I have phoned 1555, they were unable to 'just give me the settings' ...

Its far more than that for palm, you need a ton of strings and stuff.
I did however find a solution. Just playing around I set the palm to UK, Vodafone-UK and it works. So if you have a palm, bluetooth with cellphone and using mtn, then just use the vodafone-uk settings. I've been having a load of fun with this. Perhaps i'll look at the vodafone-uk settings and post them some time :)

I think MTN data call center should have a New Year's Resolution - not to hang the phone up on customers!!
 
Data Loss

Hi Guys,

I purchase a 1 GB data bundle on a prepaid card (easier to control) i use Netmeter to log my usage, the weird thing is Netmeter measures my usage at 500mb and MTN notifies me that my data is finished. Any idea what's wrong?
