Wondering if anyone can help, since MTN certainly cannot.

I am able to add some numbers as recipients to Datashare, and not others (max allowed is 20). I currently have 2 recipients added, and I am struggling to add a further 2. I used the Android app, but it failed on the 3rd and 4th numbers. Even if I remove the current 2 recipients, the failing 2 continue to fail via both the app and USSD, however I am consistently able to add the first 2 numbers.

Below is the senseless response by MTN after requesting my security details:

Good day XXXXXX,

Dial *136*5# to activate MTN DataShare
Select option 4: ’Manage Data Bundles’
Select option 2: ’DataShare’ (here you can link and delink numbers)
You are able to add up to 20 numbers.

Kind Regards,
C...

3. Purchase Data Bundle

Received: Please enter the number to add to your Data Share list:
Sent: 063xxxxxxx

Any suggestions? Thanks.

double check that the numbers you are adding are not set to share data to or from any other numbers.

All 4 numbers that I am trying to add are brand new SIMs (2 work and 2 fail), bought for family members specifically to use with Datashare, since that we just cancelled Telkom fixed LTE, which I may well regret!

problem is if the numbers were recycled it might be set up and you not even aware?
on the 2 sims did you try just testing if data share is active? That's the issue i had found previously that gave this error.

Also did you port those other 2? maybe its not showing as MTN numbers yet, hence its rejecting .

Solved.
Both numbers just received unexpected push messages now saying "SIM activated", yet they were being used for days, and were the new numbers in WhatsApp number changes done several days ago. After I received those popups, I immediately tried Datashare and it worked instantly.

Thanks for response though, Isie.

lol cool

I still have the same issue though, for months.

Unable to add an 084 number (which was ported to MTN years ago) and an 060 number as well

I have successfully added an 078 number though but everything else doesnt work

Also when using a brand new prepaid sim it will fail when trying to add it as a Datashare number until you load some airtime on the new sim, the minute I loaded R5 airtime via internet banking the Datashare add worked.

I am having the same issue. Got fixed LTE 1TB Home wifi, trying to add 4 x mtn numbers to data share. Everything is linked, no data pulls thru to each phone even though they out of personal data. Phoned mtn 4 times. Not sure what is going on...
