MTN deploys 5G Standalone core in Microsoft cloud

MTN has conducted a proof of concept for a 5G Standalone core fully deployed in Microsoft Azure. It said this was a first-of-its-kind deployment.

It conducted the proof of concept with all of the 5G Standalone core elements, including the control plane, user plane, and management nodes, deployed entirely in the South Africa Azure Region.

I'm not sure if MTN or MyBroadband understands or see why they need a standalone 5G standalone Core... the business case or the users needs lol. Lots of big words that tells us nothing in return

Presumably this is intended to be a virtual reality rollout of 5G to see how and where 5G can be rolled out most effectively and efficiently.

Or it's MTN gearing up to sell 5G NFTs with ChatGPT as the sales agent integrated into Edge and Bing, maybe even a future unreality partnership deal with the droopy tits company (Meta).
