When I check my broadband connection using Pingtest.net, the first thing it does is look for the "best" internet server. This is usually found (1) in Maputo - TVCabo Mozambique, or (2) Altech Technology Concepts in Joburg, which seems to be blocked, (3) Vodacom in Pretoria, and (4) iSpace in Umhlanga, NONE from MTN Network Solutions!

How can MTN sell broadband when they do not have their own Server, and they are only middlemen/peddlars??

Yes sir, because the prerequisite to being an ISP is having a server on pingtest.

MTN has a huge local network and they're actively adding to it. They do however lack a representative on mybb.

an example of when a touch of knowledge can be dangerous

lol

Those are pingtest servers, if an ISP doesn't have one, it doesn't mean they don't have their own "internet server"

Lol!... made my day dude...

I shall forever forward call pingtest the "Internet Server"

I am sorry but epic facepalm :/

Your biography says you're a retired engineer?
What are you actually trying to say, because many ISPs are middlemen/resellers anyway.

I can only conclude that you must be trolling, but thanks for the laugh:)

LOL!

Well I guess he chose the correct site to be schooled in. Next time go into command prompt (Windows key + R; then type "cmd) and then type "tracert 127.0.0.1". That is your home address and you will see that MTN have a direct connection to your house.

Wait, that's my home address too!

This is the wrong forum to ask such questions, this lot will rip you apart....

We do have a mainframe, MTNBusiness one located in Rosebank if im not mistaken.

Jellicoe St, there next to business day if I am not mistaken, was once a little MTN NS shop of horrors (back in my days, before the interwebs required pinger-ma-jingies). Is it still there? I'd have thought they would have moved it to the Joburg funny farm.
