MTN faces a new R9.7-million fine

I can only hope that ICASA sees the money to be made by actually enforcing regulations, which is hopefully more than the bribes they are taking, and start to enforce stuff here.

Think about all the 7 series you can buy with that cash!
 
Aren't fines and damages two different things?
The fine constitutes a payment for general damages, and a penalty for punitive damages.

If I read the article correctly it was a civil case. Or can a court impose a fine on top of damages which goes to EzeeMoney Limited.
 
Guess another day or 5 will be a good time to buy some mtn shares...

How sure are you that MTN is a "South African" company? They were already hit with other fines from outside this country.
And everyone here feeling pity for them and thinking MTN is being treated unfairly; look at how they screw other companies and blatantly disregard laws in order to milk the population... Are you all sitting on your brains?
