So my husband and I both switched from Vodacom to MTN a couple years ago as the comms seemed better on MTN at our new home.
We had never had a problem roaming with Vodacom before. Besides for understanding how the bundles work etc I do understand roaming is expensive but we literally run our business on the phone and rely heavily on WhatsApp so can’t be without cell phone connectivity.
Roaming on MTN has proven to be the most frustrating thing… particularly in Africa.

When in Zambia, my husband will call me and it will come from a number that is not his. Same when I call him, it shows a number that is not mine.

Now in Lesotho, it has taken 2 hours after him crossing the border for his data roaming to start working. I tried to call him and I am getting through to someone else… I am calling my husbands number for sure. How is this happening?

Speaking to anyone at MTN about this is like talking Chinese to a Frenchman.

Best thing each of you can do is to simply load an eSIM for roaming.

Then adjust your phone settings so that the eSIM is set to be the main sim for data connectivity.

You're going to save so much money.

This is the same thing my brother told me to do me … how do I do it?

Does anyone have any input re the cross connection of calls. When I phone my husband I reach a variety of Lesotho locals …

Also have a look at Vodacom Travel bundles. Works pretty much everywhere and completely seemlessly, it's also cheaper than Airalo.
