Hi guys.

I'm trying to configure a device (not a cellphone) to connect to the internet via MTN. I have to enter the APN details manually. What are the APN settings for MTN? I read that you only need either "internet" or "myMTN" as the APN and no username or password, ie. those fields can be left blank. Does this still apply?

Thanks

All the SA ones are just "internet" I think unless blackberry or the unrestricted APN

Yes no user/pass...thats pretty much internationally blank

Cool thanks. Another question, sorry if it sounds n00bish, but is it necessary to actually have a data bundle on the SIM in order for it to connect to the internet or is the airtime that's loaded on it fine? I'm not sure how MTN does it but Vodacom charges airtime when your data is depleted. Will the SIM just charge the airtime for data costs instead of requiring an actual data bundle? I'll probably buy a bundle soon anyway, but right now I'm just trying to test the device to see if it will actually connect.

With MTN you can use the apn internet or mymtn

No you do not need a data bundle to access the internet it will use the airtime but it is NOT recommended you do that because 1mb = R2 which even for a small test could be pricey. Just buy those cheap small 10mb or so data bundles.
