Hi Uli. 1st off, I agree that it sucks to have to pay so much for *service without a smile*
But what can you do? How about instead of complaining you go set up a business plan where you offer cellular services at "cost price" or close to it. You know, the price that you, Uli, want to pay. Now go to an investment bank or venture capitalist and try to sell them your idea. I dare you.
They will look at the figures and ask you one question: "Why should we invest our money for little or no returns when we can put it in the bank for better returns?"
Then you will realise that you cannot run an huge company like MTN as a charity. I wish they would, but you cannot.
What you really should be pissed off about is the fact that the government so badly mismanages Sentech. They are supposed to bring cheap communication to all South Africans. But like all government departments (except SARS, go figure) it does not work.
We pay insane prices for health care, education, security, transport, etc... because the departments that are suppose to offer it for free or cheap don't work.
Now we rely on capitalists to supply us with essential services.
