No Cell C number can reach me or my voicemail.
50% of landline numbers can not reach me.

I have applied for 5 new positions.... what if they can not reach me?!

It took me 40 mins on MTN's 808 number to even talk to anyone that sounds a little more capable than the average person there, thats after I got hungup on once and waited for someone to pick up for 25 mins.

Is there any legal reason that I can end my contract with them? Thinking along the lines of "im paying for a service im not getting".

Sounds like MTN managed to fsck up the routing for your number. Did you port recently? Or switch from contract to prepaid, or vice versa?

MTN's internal billing and administration systems are complete fsckup. You're not the only one having problems.

In any case, send a PM to Dr_Data. He should be able to help you - he works for MTN. He sorted 2 of my problem's out after I was struggling for almost 2 months with the 808 call center.

Hi, I had a similar problem as I ported from MTN to Virgin and then back again (as the port to virgin never went through properly).

Thereafter no cellc or virgin number could phone me.

It had 0 to do with MTN, got in touch with the virgin helpdesk and it was sorted. What happened to lead to this? Is this a new number? or was it ported at some stage?
 
It was ported from Cell C to MTN about a 2 years ago.

They then fscked up my bill, I had no coverage yet somehow they billed me for R895 before the port was successful and before I had even made one call on my "new" MTN number.

Well if I port from Virgin to MTN, I wouldn't say it has 0 to do with MTN.

MTN will be my new service provider, so they need to sort the sh*t out. I was told be MTN to contact Virgin, and Virgin to contact MTN. This went on for almost 2 months. What BS. If MTN is my new SP, then they must sort out the problem, with whoever it is. They can't expect the customer to undrestand what is wrong, and expect them to phone Virgin.

Good for you. Pray that you don't ever have any problems with MTN, coz when you do, you will find out first hand how impossibly difficult and frustrating it is to try and get it sorted out. Sure, as long as you have no problems, you're happy. Just wait for that change, and you'll see for yourself...

Typical response from MTN.. this happened to me for close to 2 months. Other people have had it even worse...
 
i think MTN should fix the problem... but to say that MTN is entirely rubbish i dont agree with. I have been with them for 15 years and not a single problem EVER !!!!

in fact a good couple of people in my office are with MTN and zero problems. every network has issues, rather find the "RIGHT" people to get your problem fixed.

I tried.

After the balls up that was my porting experience I now had to struggle to speak to anyone that could help me.

They hungup on me! Then they had me holding for 25 mins to speak to the supervisor...... I do have a job and a life, I can not spend 1 hour to get hold of someone that can help me....

Also I know some people have no problem.

My mother for instance has been with them for 10 years and not one single problem.
