MTN launches 1MB auto-renewing data bundle

Well you've gotta get the huns hooked on data somehow.

Auto subscription - is that allowed in terms of the Consumer Protection Act?

Translation: Are MTN scumbags?

MTN said that this auto-renewing 1MB data bundle is allowable under the ICASA End User and Subscriber Service Charter (EUSSC).

Translation: Yes, we are scumbags, thanks for asking.

R0.40*1024=R409.6 per GB
they will say, don't be ungrateful, it could have been R2, ie, R2048
still... i suppose they saw a market for this... perhaps not the members on this forum, but many people out there that could use the odd small top up for a quick message send or such

Absolutely scum of a move, but I blame ICASA, they time and time again fail to close loopholes by trying to be as vague as possible - almost as if they are paid to do so.

I've never been so happy with my mobile ISP as I have been with Telkom. Didn't think I'd ever say that.

Spot on. I've been with Telkom for over 2 years running now and honestly, I can overlook some of the coverage gaps when I remember the behaviour of both MTN and Vodacom when it comes to their customers. They're disgusting.

Time to swamp their systems with complaints. It is a free call to their call centre from MTN? Wonder if they have live chat?

What is it with these scum bags that are so slow to find solutions that the customers actually want, but are so quick to find answers to problems that cost them money?

You need to opt out? Very easy to make opt out the default if somebody else pays for it. Actually negative option marketing.

WOW - If ICASA allows this then they truly are useless.

They are.
