MTN launches flat-rated smartphone data bundles

From my understanding you will get charged once you pass the Fair use amount which basically means this is not a flat-rate service
 
75MB :
- per day ?
- per month ?
- per second ?
- per minute ?
- per hour ?
- per year ?
- per lifetime ?

This is many possibilities next generation network south africa, you will have to be more specific author.
 
Another complication to the ordinary user of mobile data. So many packages, so many options....which is the best value for money?
 
A step forward, hopefully vodascum or cell c can start offering a flat rate uncapped bundle with a FUP of 1gb which is then throttled to 384kbps
 
75MB is not bad if you mainly using it for social networking, but if you downloading/updating apps frequently it can get depleted very fast. 1 x Angry Birds update ~ 23MB.
 
Flat rate for email?! Ill take it!
I some how cannot allow myself to pay for email data charges, any other data charges im fine with.

According to what you say, how can RPM and co claim it's competition to BIS, which is unlimited?
 
I used 75Meg just to view this page. I burn thru 75Meg in a hour just on twitter.

I phoned MTN on 1555 yesterday and the consultant said after the 75mb is used you will get charged but then again he didn't sound too sure

I don't think he knows what he's talking about. How can something being sold as flat-rate be charged for after passing a threshold? Flat-rate by definition means that you pay one price.

My sentiment exactly.

I'm an old hand with MTN and I'm moving to 8ta - even though I vehemently hate the Beast which is Telkom, but a better deal on prepaid data bundles, with MTN roaming is too good an offer to refuse.
I would've ported today had I not forgotten my proof of residence at home.

Then that's bs. We wanted unlimited mobile data. Not you to dictate what we use it for. I think MTN is wasting everybody's time.

these mobile operators have been tossing us breadcrumbs for far too long that people have become too accept any bull**** as a step in the right direction...

Jumped ship from BB to Android and ive been missing BIS this could be the solution and after this I dont think the BB will still be as attarctive as they are now
