MTN launches flat-rated smartphone data bundles

There us clearly something missing from the article. Based in what I read you might as well just have a standard data bundle. There is nothing special about this product

100 meg LOL and they think they are going to rival blackberry, there is no worries with BB. You don't need to wonder if you are going to get ass raped where as mtn and vodacom you will if you go over their massively high cap. Seriously 100mb is too much, 10mb should be cool. So nice of them.

O yes BB doesn't limit you to certain sites only.

I still think R75 for unlimited full speed access to operas servers, facebook and twitter plus access to everything else at 128k would have been a huge winner.:thumbup:
 
90% of my browsing activities is done on WiFi so packages like this don't help me one teeny weeny bit. I don't have a BB either.

Mine as well, but would be nice to use your smartphone 'freely' when you're not at home/work with a wifi connection. Download apps on the go when needed, actually use data intensive apps/websites etc would be great

Why the comparison to BIS when its NOTHING like BIS ?
It would be nice to see a proper BIS type service available for other handsets.
I hope this is the starting block and the other networks join in the race.

I really don't understand. MTN has had a 75MB data bundle for R49 for a while now. So what's the difference? Is it just a new name or what?

Will be very very interesting if they release packages competing with the BB market.

one of the biggest reasons why i haven't gone Droid yet, is the every pending question - what is all the data going to cost me :(
 
While I agree that this is the start of something good for consumers, I don't think 75MB is a good start, and I don't see how MTN can justify going lighter than 75MB which is already miniscule.

Blackberry services in SA would have failed spectacularly if there had been a 75MB limit, I think MTN has lost the plot with these new 75MB Smartphone data bundles.
 
I am very confused. The 75mb data bundle is already R49? It's been the same price since at least 2009. What's new with this offering besides a change of name and only being available to prepaid clients?

Exacly what I wanted to say. Also why are the pro packages even differeciating between different types of traffic when they end witj 'Other internet usage will also deplete the fair use allowance'.
That implies that all internet traffic depletes the the 75MB making it the same as normal 75MB bundle.
It also implies that Nokia Smartphone Pro is the same as MTN smartphone pro. No differences as all traffic in essence depletes the 75MB.

But I guess the question is that everyone's asking what do they do after 75MB? Why did the article not address this?
 
may it be that the 75mb is as big as it can download a file or app? maybe its uncap internet just with a 75mb max download per item... what do you guys think?
 
My guess is it is unlimited opera mini browsing and unlimited Facebook / mxit / twitter but only 75mb of regular data on top of that.

It's the only thing that makes sense. :sly:

Makes sense for people with brains but this MTN we talking about , I think if you want this you would have to buy the opera mini package + social media + smartphone pro
