MTN launches flat-rated smartphone data bundles

Jumped ship from BB to Android and ive been missing BIS this could be the solution and after this I dont think the BB will still be as attarctive as they are now

Don't you get it?

They tell you what you use your data for.

Select Option 1
then select option 2

Cool. It's there. Didn't kno it was out yet. Say, you bought the option 2 bundle. Did you deplete your 75MB? If so were/are you throttled, to what speed? Are you still cable to access the same promised services zero-ratedly or with no airtime credit? Is the any other data, service, applications which are zero rated as well?

This uncapped plan from MTN is not clear.

Is it 75mb fair usage data before you get throttled to a certain speed, or is it 75mb of data per month or day or week?

If it is 75mb of data per month or day or week, that does not solve anything, I use 100mb on my smartphone in less than a week.

I think these companies dont understand BIS. BIS is an ALL YOU CAN USE, UNCAPPED INTERNET service and not an uncapped, capped service.

I don't think this has been mentioned here yet: 75MB?! WTF!
;-)

NEWS FLASH :
MTN launches NOTHING, says NOTHING, throws some figures around!

Us mortals should bask in the glory that is MTN flat rated, uncapped, limitless, neverending data bundles :)

I'm not one to compliment cellc on service or anything like that but they do have a 3gb bundle for a year that costs R400. That's like 375mb/month for R50...

The thread doesn't answer my questions. 1. Are you still able to use the services they promised after 75MB was supposedly depleted?

Loaded the package and no data was added to my account, downloaded a few apps and browsed for a while and I was charged for all of it.
24 hours later, no data is added to my account, so basically I got nothing.

Hope that answers all your queries

Essentially, paying R49 for 75MB? Same as normal data bundle? Hmmm. I don't get it.

These packages are clearly not meant for us technical folk here on MyBB.

It is meant to hook the people who could not afford smartphones to date and the ones who just did not care about it. After they get used to these basic services, the trend is to want more and that is what MTN is probably hoping for.

Also, the time is approaching very quickly where every phone available on the market will be a smartphone, so it doesn't hurt to be prepared.
