MTN LTE Routing

@heartbreakhotel_ yes this is a point of much pain for me. I'm in Durbs. MTN used to have an internet breakout here. I was just reconsidering one of their "uncapped" options for home, and bought some data to re-test the experience. Wow, it is awful. In their infinite wisdom; they have now decided to route everything through either JHB or CPT. This is even using MTN directly, not through a reseller.

I'm in Durbs, and my internet access now begins in JHB. My company has MTN mobile connections in P.E. (Gqeberha) and Sedgefield (near Knysna). The one in P.E. used to have a local breakout - its life now too begins in JHB. Our Sedgefield connection's access begins in CPT, although it may have always been that way. If I am at home and TeamView into my office, also in Durbs; I now take a multi-hop scenic route via Joeys and Polokwane, just to connect to something ~20km away.

All the "works great for me bro" people either live in or near JHB or CPT, which I guess is like 90% of the population. Us few 10% that don't; now have anything from a painful to a tolerable experience, depending on distance to those 2 major cities.

I still need to check with someone using Vodacom, but I have been using Telkom for several months, and Telkom don't do this. I have breakout in Durbs with Telkom, and while the top speed is not hot; the experience/responsiveness is worlds better. Sticking with Telkom for now, I guess...

EDIT: I just confirmed with a colleague here in Durbs using Vodacom - Vodacom also routes through JHB. Wow, what a nightmare.
