MTN missed call notification service now available

I'm sorry but what

I'm sorry but WHAT???!!

I've been on Cell C for many years and have had this feature for quite some time, although it may be a bit intermittent. I am also aware that Vodacom has had this feature even before Cell C.

So why are MTN acting like they have reinvented the wheel? Or have their offices become too high up in the altitude??

“With the introduction of the Missed Call Notification service, MTN is yet again demonstrating its consistent agility to enhancing the experience of our customers,” ... This train has already left, get with the programme!!

My phone must've also had this a looong time.... if somebody phones, and i don't pick up... it shows "missed call" :-)
otherwise i get a message on voicemail.
still, while the ability to know when I've missed a call is such a high priority in my life, i have to wonder if MTN has exxess staff to think up these new services to keep busy?
still... there was that thread recently about making more SA Mark Zuckerbergs.....

are we going to be limited on BB BIS use, to free up the networks for SMS's about missed calls?

Had this for ages from Vodacom. Mobile providers introduce this because there networks are so bad that they cant get calls though IMO.

Maybe this is a good thing that MTN introduces this now indicating there network is only beginning to suck now unlike the other 2.

Erm.. yea. I been getting sms's for missed calls for years on VC.

LOL @ MTN. Even BIGGER LOL @ MYBB for posting this rubbish without criticizing it. As pointed out by others, both Cell C and Vodacom have had this for ages.

On a more serious note, has anybody tried MTN's enchanced Voicemail service? Apparently it is free for all users on Anytime 350 or higher. The service sends voicemail messages to your phone as an MMS with an audio clip attachment, so you can listen to your voicemail without needing to dial 100. Push voicemail, if I may.

Anyone tried this yet? Still struggling with to get Nashua Mobile to enable this for Anytime 500 contract.

This is really a lot of nothing that MTN did. Even your fone can tell you about missed calls. If they said it will show unknown numbers and you can call them back it would have been something...

Actually, it's a little more than nothing. Definitely useful, just MTN were like 5 years too late. Advantage of such a service is that if your phone is off/dead, or you are in an area with no coverage or poor signal, and someone tries to call you, MTN will send you an SMS notifying of the missed call. I don't think you'll receive the SMS if your phone actually rings, but you fail to answer for whatever reason.

At least that's how I remember it working on Vodacom a few years ago. Can anyone confirm?

I might be wrong but it sounds like it's something apart from the Voicemail message.
Telling you you have a Voicemail.

I might be wrong though.

Gosh, so long to provide services most others already do.

Edit: the pic says it all :D

Hahaha. Eish yaa neh?! Cell C, Vodacom and even Virgin mobile have had this feature for years. I don't remember any of them releasing a press statement when they launched this feature. No seriously, MTN is definetely lost, still stuck in a cave somewhere behind the mountains.

its Missed Call Notification service which will send you an SMS when you’ve missed a call, even if you’re out of signal range or your phone is off.
W.T.F?

If you're out of signal range or your phone is off how would you get the message???

This is such a stupid press release its not even funny!
