When there were network problems and the network has been restored, it usually helps to switch problem phones off and on.

I'm still not able to send MMS and establish a data connection.

Still no data network here either. Us northern suburbs oaks getting no joy :(

Still no data & MMS for me. Have tried switching my phone off and on again numerous times.

@v3g: No more news?

 Same in PE, since early yesterday and its really frustrating!!!! Whole 24 hrs without any kind of connectivity......Had a good chuckle though, gave the call centre a call and after an hour of waiting, spoke to a chap who ASSURED me that the problem would be sorted out very very soon, shortly in fact........within the next few seconds or...........within the next 24hrs......

No data here :((((((( Durbanville, CT.
Have resorted back to old Virgin SIM still lying around.
On verge of suicide.....

Still no data. Here or Stellenbosch or Claremont.

And no, it's not just my phone, i checked with other peoples' phones as well. If you're with MTN, you're screwed.

Does anyone know what is going on?

up and down between Parow , Tygervalley , CT CBD and no GPRS , sending mms on E90 just lets the 3G icon flash all the time on and off , 6230 does'nt get GPRS connection , can make and receive calls on both , set E90 to GSM to get EDGE , sadly no joy with 3 days of outage now for me.

phones have been switch to offline (E90) and totally rebooted as well as rebooting 6230 , still no joy.

contract number on 083308 range and mychoice topup 75 on 083448 range.

this mms issue has been affecting me for a good few months though , always do a *123*12# to get new settings ... sometimes the recipient gets the mms and sometimes not and receiver is also on MTN.

MTN-GPRS is now called MTN-WAP
MTN-MMS is now called MtnMmsProxy

most annoying.

Both got the same settings are the old profiles.

Bye bye MTN

Thank you MTN, for the nights spent not being able to connect with friends and family who were so looking forward to hearing from me. Thank you for taking my Money, allowing me to load gigabyte after gigabyte of data, to spend my money on you and then provide me nothing but frustration and that infernal call centre IVR system in return.

Thank you for the persistent bad connection, for the 2-8 kbits/s range that you have now offered me on HSDPA in return for my hard earned money, for the flashy and really expensive adverts that are nothing but lip service yet made me believe that you actually did have my best interest at heart and for trying so hard to lock me into a contract.

But you see, the situation is this: Your network is shocking, your service is shocking, your call centre Parrots have no IQ to speak of and list everything, everytime, every call, in parrot fashion, telling me that its my phone and I need the settings when I have (no, sorry, had, they are all currently in the trash can!!) about 15 MTN numbers that I use for the same modem, all of which can connect, insisting that I have no idea what I am talking about. Anyhow, I digress, you see the situation is this: You will never lock me into a contract because now, I can vote, I can vote with my feet, and I tell you this, YOU will never take my money again, you will never convince me to use your network because it is the "BEST" and take my hard earned money, promising me 30 days in which to use MY data, not yours, MINE, I paid for it, and then only give me half of that time because YOUR network cannot provide a continous service, AND then have the balls to still take whats left of MY data, which I could not use because of YOUR incompetence and down network, after 30 days!

Now thew loss of my R 2000.00 per month or so on data and calls will not even make a dent in your networks earnings, that I know, yet, I am sure that I am not alone, so viva MNP and lets hope that many more vote with their feet as well, because that is the only way that anything will ever change in this country, when apathetic consumers change their attitude and make use of the buying power that they have!!!!

So for my part, good bye MTN, the pleasure at leaving, is all mine, I promise you!

MTN - Network Busy

Hi

I know its been discussed before, but this is now bugging me, on more than half of my attempts to phone out I get "Network Busy"

This happenes to me mostly in Vorna Valley and Ruimsig but not limited to these areas.

Is there any solution to this ?

Me? I generally take the sim card out, put back in and switch on, actually works sometimes:rolleyes:

Hi

I'm also suffering some problems similar to what other people have said before in this thread. I'm on the MyCall 100 package, with a 10Mb data bundle for things like WAP and Mxit

Lately, I've found that my Nokia N80 cannot connect to gprs when the network setting is in GSM mode. The connection sign just flashes and flashes. When I switch the phone into UTMS mode, I am able to connect, but I still have some issues in my home neighbourhood, and when moving around.

I have tried switching phone on and off, taking sim card out, deleting and setting up gprs settings form the MTN service menu, but in the end no luck. Unfortunately where I work the walls are so thick, plus I'm in a basement, I get next to no signal for GSM and none for 3G.

It's odd, this has been my first real problem with MTN in almost 5 years of being a customer. Maybe my phone is also a little crazy, as my Nokia 6680 used to run like smoothness personified.

Its that phone, me hates that phone:(

I'm experiencing a similar problem, if I try to access a web page on my Nokia N95 and the phone is in GSM mode, it just shows 'Connecting'. If I switch to UMTS mode, the pages load fine.

Update:
The same happens on my wife's Nokia N73; no web pages or mxit when in GSM mode, switching to UMTS and web pages load and mxit connects.

It would appear that the GPRS/EDGE data network is down, but I can connect with a Huawei E220 in 'GPRS/EDGE only' and in '3G only' modes, so have MTN changed something on their GPRS/EDGE network that Nokia phones don't like?
