MTN Not working?

I'm starting to share your view of the phone. When I came to contract upgrade time, I just took it without doing too much research into the phone, because I generally knew the phone's specs. But after having the phone, I'm starting to get irritated with build quality, signal issues and so on. No more slide phones for me in the future I think

It's so weird, I must say. I think my friends who have other makes of phones but are on Mtn, they still seem to be ok. I really have no idea what's going on. Unfortunately where I work the walls are so thick I can't even get a 3G signal. Sigh :(
 
I called 1555 and was told there is a problem with the GSM data network in the Cape Town area, and they are working on getting it resolved.

@Asha'man X: Have you tried upgrading the firmware on that phone?

I've checked the Nokia site, and sadly there is no new firmware for the phone. The current one on this phone is the latest, which happened to be from 2006. Ag well, it's not the end of the world.

The problem is still affecting me, but in the end the free time is quite nice. I can go to bed early, or study or just relax without my cell bothering me. Bit of a tradeoff either way lol :)

Just hope the problem gets resolved fairly soon.

seems to have been resolved now.
