Extremely frustrated at MTN for the following reason :

Im trying to change a number on one of my contracts to a new number. The contract type is a top up 200.I have been told that i have to wait till contract expires (December 2014), and the lady also went to see if i can change contract to one that allows number changing but then said its not available for the current contract that im on?WTF?!

I have had 2 contracts for them for about 8 years now but apparantly that means buggerall nowadays.

Pls advise on what i can do? I need to get that number changed ASAP.

Ask that they make the number prepaid and then assign a new number to the contract.

Im in CPT,I dont think they can just make it prepaid because its a top up contract, i will have to pay R600 odd x 15 months to end the contract and i dont have that kind of cash.

Has anyone been able to change their contract MTN number?

No no no....

You want to keep the contract
You want to make the sim prepaid
The system then auto assigns a new number to the contract.

Then you can decide to just use new number, the old number(now prepaid) will stop working if not use...

Nope. I asked that question the last time I was at their 14th ave branch. I was curious as I overheard another customer wanted that. So I asked how it is done. Apparently it happens more often than we think....

Cool, i phoned a branch and told them what you said and they said they will call HO and let me know.I just think you have to be persistent which is ridiculous.

Any joy? I also want to do this cause my number is plagued by the God damn subscription services.... I cancel 1 today and before the end of the week there is another 1 eating my money. So I managed to get a nice easy number on prepaid that I would like to continue on the contract.

I was told by mtnsp to pay the total outstanding on the contract and then apply for a new contract......

I think you will have a problem, trying to get number X replaced with number Z.

As per the method described to me you get a new number russian roulette style.

mtn should be able to change the msisdn on the contract if you tell them people are harassing you on your current number.

finding someone who can / is willing to help might prove difficult.

A quick update, hit a dead end again, even after paying R250 into their account. What a useless bunch!I cant fathom why number changing is not allowed on a topup contract, but you can do it with any other contract? If i had to build a retarded system like this i wouldnt keep my job for long!Suck it MTN.

Its very shocking indeed. I have a cellc topup contract and the cellc rep changed it to a number I had on prepaid and with no charge at all..... I just send him a pm and he sorted me out very fast......

MTN support is just a joke. Call 5 times and get 5 different answers....

Could you "upgrade" to an anytime contract, of the same value. Have the number changed. Then next month upgrade to a top up contract?

Sclep, sure. But you could do that to prove to them you can and will get your number changed....
