MTN people not receiving SMS's

Having moved over to MTN about a year ago. *Due to having signal problems in my area with Vodacom*

In the last +-6 weeks I have been having problems of people not getting my SMS messages. This includes sending to people on various networks and quite frankly I am sick of being charged for SMS's that people either do not get or arrive 6/7 hours later.
 
Nicely done MTN at the moment I can not even send an SMS. My fiance' is also having the same problem.
 
I have had the same problem the last 2 days. The only thing that worked for me, was to switch off the handset, and turn it back on again; then move the SMS from the outbox to "Drafts" and send again. The second time round the SMS goes through.
 
I'm also having problems with MTN.

No GPRS and SMS's not being delivered and I have no idea if incoming SMS's are being delivered either. I can't call my friend's MTN number - it just says Network Busy. :(

I can call Vodacom numbers no problem.
 
Same here, countless times my sms's do not get delivered.
It happened a lot awhile ago, seemed to of got sorted out, but now it's the same problem again. It is PATHETIC, I have made countless threads about MTN's ridiculous half-@rsed service, not just sms's. I have given up though, couldn't be bother anymore.
 
I have been having problems with sms's on MTN for weeks.. weekends are by far the worst with delays of 6 or more hours and some sms's not getting through at all.. sms's from overseas which used to work perfectly now seldom get delivered.. this service is shocking in the extreme, in fact useless.... twitter, if you have a data connection, is a multiple of times better and cheaper
 
I have had the same problems! First it would not get delivered, and then this week the delivery report showed pending, so I resent the messages a few times. Meanwhile, the messages were being delivered and obviously i'm being charged, but the replies to the sms's were not coming through to me! I switched off my phone and a few hours later all the day's sms's came through!!! This is terrible service. I'm furious with mtn!!!
 
same here. went as far as I even "lost" international roaming and voicemail box. don't know how a service can be deactivated, after having it used for 10 years... pathetic
 
a family member of mine is also having problems on mtn with sms's not being delivered to the people they being sent to.
 
i have been having this problem for the past 2 years. sometimes my calls go stright through to voicemail. no sms's go through or cant recieve them. So happy i have just 8 more days with MTN then i'm going to Vodacom. I started a business and cannot be in the situations where my clients or employees cant get hold of me. I'm not sure if it because i have a ported number or what.
 
A week or so ago they were talking about this on 702 and apparently the networks know about the problem and are investigating.
Regardless, this is a huge fail.

Yup... 702 have stated that according to the networks, the problem is with the handsets and settings, not them!

Right... I guess the idols voting fiasco is also due to the handsets as well!!!
 
I believe MTN imported a whole lot of techies from Central Africa, they escaped from Monkeyland in Nigeria.
