MTN slashes data prices

Likely because everyone cancelled and said price was the reason.

MTN plan: wait for people to sign up, then increase contract price a couple of months later.

Or go into a month-to-month with Axxess/Afrihost on their Mobile packages. It is R49/GB for the 1GB so 40% cheaper than MTN contract price and they use the MTN network. So no fixed period and cheaper rates, in addition with way better data usage tracking tools and online portal to manage your data monitoring and management.

Exactly

Take all of those prices, increase them by 20% for the prepaid equivalent and you'll finally have what I consider to be 'fair' offerings.

Just fix the 500 meg and 1Gig to scale the same as the 2 Gig...

Now we are getting somewhere, its just a shame these are contracts....
The old contract prices "My MTNChoice 2GB R139/pm" did not make sense.
With prepaid, if you're prepared to pay up front for a year:
2GB x 12 for R1399
2GB for R116.58pm was cheaper.

Still with current data usages on smart phones these days, 2GB is barely enough (if you only use cellular).
You have to have access to WiFi to make ends meet.

Currently on MTN contract with 'free' 500MB which lasts about a week.

Just checked on the USSD service and its R105 for 500MB. wtf.

My 2GB MTN contract comes with 2GB anytime data and extra 2GB night surfer. So there is a bit of extra value if you are one to download after 12.

Also, when I took my contact in Dec 2014 the price was R99. Then the whole increase contract price s**t came up. Now MTN is stroking their ego claiming to "slash" prices. To me it seems as if the title should read "MTN reverts to old contract prices"

and the prepaid prices? oh MTN, the one that turned bad and never looked back
