MTN sms roaming deactivation issue

Just returned from overseas. Activated MTN sms roaming before leaving and deactivated on return.
Checked sms roaming status using ussd and says inactivated.
Am able to receive calls and sms and data works but unable to make calls.
This is occurring on three sim cards all handled in the same way.
Every time one phones a number including 173 it says the number is incorrect please check the number and dial again. All phones rebooted with no resolution.
Phoned call centre on another phone and they do not know that they appear to have an issue and no resolution yet. Several days now luckily most of us only use data.
Does anyone else have this issue. ?

In case anyone else runs into this issue, the instructions on the MTN web site to use *111*14# are wrong. That only gives you options for choosing which roaming partner to use. If you want to turn SMS roaming on or off, use *111# and follow the prompts to SMS roaming then activate or deactivate.

You might have activated call barring, or some more complex corrupt configuration.
There is one old GSM code which helps in most of situations.
Type ##002# [yes/ok]
It cancel all call barrring, diverts, forwarding (conditional and unconditional) and voice mail as well.
If you didn't do it when leaving the country, do it now.

Same problem.

Used the app to turn off roaming, now it works.
