I recently signed up for one of of their Shesh @ 600 month to month contracts. I got a new 5G router delivered to me yesterday. This evening I'm checking the messages on the router and found that I have been subscribed to MYMINIMALIST at R3.00/day. WTF is MYMINIMALIST???

I did not subscribe for %^&*ol ! No one was even home when it was subscribed. And no one but me has the Wifi password to it yet. Is MTN scamming people with these WASP services? Makes me want to cancel the contract. I used *123# ussd to unsubscribe but I want this **** removed permanently.

Now I am trying to block all "premium" bullshit services. But it seems like it is already blocked, because my only option is to unblock it. So how was I subscribed in the first place?

I had that with Vodacom. In store they disabled it, and soon I was resubscribed. They're all in on it, the scum.

I cannot see the need for any WASP service.

Are you clocking the first 300GB full speed or are you kept at 20mbps for the rest of the deal.(600GB)

This is a known problem with MTN. Pretty sure I've posted on the same issue here somewhere and other users as well.

It's mystery to MTN how they sign you up for these rubbish services, but they are quick to tell you how to remove yourself from the service.

May a Kenneth Makate be with them.

Mybroadband also posted multiple duplicate articles on the same topic.

One trick MTN used with their WASP Play service is they send you am SMS to join and when you opened the SMS they immediately subscribed you. MTN confirmed it was legit and refused to say how it happens.

They must be making billions as many people don't even know they are subscribed.

MTN PLAY send me an MMS or SMS for their PLAY wasp rubbish. The moment I opened the SMS / MMS they subscribed me. Thieves and liars!!

yes and after 600GB it becomes unusable (512kbps)
I am aware. I still think its fair at R400 pm including a new 5G router on a deal that I can cancel at any time. It may be worth it for me if I dont get subbed to random WASP services at any time.

Did one of those month to month data contracts last year, they took R550 off my CC when I signed up for first month then charged me for first month + all sorts of other rubbish on first debit order. The R550 they took off my credit card? "We can not find any record of that transaction" even though I emailed them screenshots and a full bank statement.

Really messed up accounting on their part.

Yep I was subscribed again. &^%* them.1750941591810.png

WASPs were already blocked. I unblocked it now and re-blocked it. 1750941961553.png

I would have expected better responses on a forum like this.
First thing when you enter into a CONtract ike this is to open a new "cheap" bank account and make sure there's only enough money in the account to cover the debit order and fees - no subscriptions.
The moment you see one of these scams report it to ICASA, and more important, to your bank, as fraud. (ICASA is as useless as t!ts on a goose.)
Banks don't like fraud...
Lay a charge at your nearest SAPS, and nag them every Monday, Wednesday and Friday about progress - and copy IPID. (Actually received sensible responses from them!

I feel that this might be the correct but totally ineffective thing to do. Not enough money? Now you owe them. Until you get a negative tick on your credit score.

Ever had R2k deducted n a R450 CONtract?
