The Afrihost / MTN move was already done in October 2012 so this current f#ckup must be something else...

Check your speeds between 9-11 am, for some reason my speed is 2,6mbps, throttled, at that time on "some mornings".

Been having the same slow speed from hursday 7 Feb. Got better for a few days, today its back to no speed at all. Going to ask the afrihost guys, seeing as MTN is not saying anything.

i went from 0.25kb/s to 10mb/s on sunday for the whole day
lucky :D

Hi Guys,
I'm about to sign up for MTN 'Uncapped' Lite internet. I read a lot of threads on these forums but just wanted to make sure I am doing the right thing before signing a two year contract! I live in Milnerton, Cape Town, near Royal Ascot, does anyone have experience of the MTN internet speed in this area?
Thanks in advance.

No but you can buy a MTN prepaid sim and speedtest, then you can test or email the MTN Coverage team and ask for a coverage map or give your residential address so they can check if you have 3g coverage in your area. Email them: [email protected] or call: 083 900 1212.

Thanks for the tip. I'll try that first!

Cell C and 8ta offer large data packages for cheaper than MTN's uncapped offer; so obviously you need to ask yourself how much data you're going to use. If you're going to max out this MTN line you're probably going to be able to download at least 60GB a month which makes it a decent deal. If you're going to use it occasionally and only rarely go over 10GB then get Cell C / 8ta (assuming you have reception).
