Maybe all the afrihost users getting mtn dc down.
Ah well just a thought, but the mtn lite is known for terrible speeds after being capped. I haven't experienced it yet.

Just found out that MTN had 3G in my area, is the R199 uncapped deal still available?

Yes, the speeds are quite slow when capped but even then I can still surf the net with ease. Also, as I said in earlier posts, it's still fine when downloading huge files like games I purchase on PlayStation Store. Takes a few days to download but still, I now have the opportunity to actually buy these games and I don't have to worry about a 2GB cap (the problem I had in the past).

u are lucky.....m contemplatin' chuckin' this dongle out the window lol

So I take it speeds in Durban sucks...

When I'm not throttled, the download speed is really good. For example, I downloaded the PS3 Final Fantasy XIII-2 update this morning (around 35MB) and it took just under a minute, about 55 seconds, very fast, as well as the PlayStation Store update (around 30MB) which also took about 55 seconds, give or take a second or two... Not bad at all!

I'm normally happy with mine...past two weeks I've been tempted to stomp on it :(

I had really slow speeds last week and nothing at all last Friday, which sucked, but luckily the problem seems to be solved and I've been unthrottled since the 13th, so it's been all good since then!

I still want to stomp on it :( It worked fine for 2 days and now it's started again :( I guess it's the weather, but it sucks having to keep reconnecting.

Maybe it's just this part of Durban lol however sometime last week I was so shocked I nearly fell off this chair, the speed got up to 800KB/s......and it was in broad daylight around 2pm-3pm....weird!

I'm using the uncapped lite right now. Getting 1588 ms ping, 36kbs download and 37 upload. Take note that this is on FULL hspa+ signal and i am not capped because i have never reached the 3gb limit because i never get speeds faster than 1mbps

Is the download speed 36 KBps (Kilobytes per second)? In other words, 288 Kbps (Kilobits per sescond)? If so, that's about what I get when throttled but you say you're not throttled, so that's definitely not good...

You're going to have to give MTN a call. Good luck with that. I haven't had the pleasure but what I can gather from this forum is that you will need it...

You posted at 06:54PM, so I take it the speedtest was done just before that? These days, I avoid going online between 17:00 and 23:00, especially when throttled.

Jip, wag maar net...
Once your throttled you'll be swearing like the rest of us for 24 months...

Borderlands 2 pre-order download from steam is 4.6GB = 8 days continuous downloading (4600/.4)/60/24
So maybe I'll be able to play it the 26th.

dis *&^%* net so! ek is al frustreerd verby! begin dink aan adsl vastelyn!!
