Hi,

Been using Vodacom for many years now as they were the only person with coverage where I live.

So now MTN have finally upped their LTE coverage and it includes my house :)

My current Vodacom contract (10gb topup @R299pm) expires in February.
This is a sim only contract...

I am considering jumping ship depending on what is available, main reason being 10GB is nothing when you have 3 pc's 3 phones, a tablet and a kindle all using data.
I can prevent updates on my windows 7 machine but this is very hard to do on the windows 10 machines (you can if you don't mind the side effects, which I do).

Anyway, What is the best current deals available? If MTN or Vodacom have a decent Black Friday deal I will get it and see what cancellation fees Vodacom would charge me.

Any advice/tips/info available?

Have you considered ADLS?

I know Telkom services the area with 2Mbps ADLS. Not the best but sure as hell beats bundles and what not. I didn't even know there is any LTE coverage out there :o

ADSL?

Our phone line goes to a pole in the garden then another pole about 15 meters from the house, After that the infrastructure is just MIA. No cables, no poles, all gone.

That sucks. I figured with the businesses close to there at least there will be infrastructure. But when I moved there I enquired and they said there is ADSL and wanted to come and install but I just can't do with 2Mbps. I think though you're a bit higher in than me from the main road. Ended up going with a WISP instead, but they expensive

My WISP is charging me R729.60 incl for 10mb up/down, uncapped, unshaped, no FUP. My line runs at 14.5mb u/d

Hi, somewhat off topic but you said something interesting. You can switch off win 10 updates without any negative consequences. Put a new rule in the windows firewall. I have & saved myself a lot of grief.
