MTN's new uncapped broadband pricing compared

What stands out for me is Vodacom's ridiculous pricing:

Vodacom 10GB for R1,845!

By now we all know this is daylight robbery, VC should have fixed it long ago!

i wonder what vodacom goin to do they seem to have disapear now that things realy heating up. Cellc free data 8ta 10gig for R199 and emtyN Fake uncapped broadband. We now waiting for vodacom to make a move. Probly give uncapped between 12am to 5am like they always do with all there free or promotion stuff

So there is no guarenteed 40GB after hours.
And going by MTN when u get capped on the 1 day uncapped thing, you will be lucky if you see 128kbps at all.
I think they should remove the 40GB after hours from article & just say u get throttled to 128 / less kbps.

What? Guaranteed? NO! If you actually leave your PC on 24/7/30 you'd at least get half of 40GB.

I recharge today R100 cellc got free 1gig 100 sms and 100 minutes no contract no catch thats value for money other companies should learn from cellc

Vodacom need to derive a package: R199 + 10GB + after hours uncapped (00:00 - 05:00), all at FULL SPEED for a 6/12 month contract. That would make the 8ta/Cell C/MTN deals look like child's play.

Their shareholders would get a heart attack. It must stay expensive, otherwise it's not sustainable (for the shareholders). :p

LOL, if they made that offer 10GB plus 00:00 - 05:00 uncapped for R500 they would make money by the shovel load. Offer another one like 5GB plus early morning uncapped for R300 and the market would all fall over.

Gazette No. 33377 (Broadband Policy for South Africa)
Clause 1.3.3
South Africa will follow the guideline from the ITU Development Sector and as such
Broadband will be interpreted as an always available, multimedia capable
connection with a download speed of at least 256 kbps.

The Code of Advertising Practice defined by the Advertising Standards Authority of South Africa
Clause 4.2.1 Misleading Claims
Advertisements should not contain any statement or visual presentation which, directly or by implication, omission, ambiguity, inaccuracy, exaggerated claim or otherwise, is likely to mislead the consumer.

If what is cited in this article is authentic then this 'uncapped broadband' service terminates after the '40GBs After-hours data' threshold.
I'd call that exaggerated, inaccurate and highly misleading... Consumers are likely think that you can now get uncapped data through MTN just like you can on fixed line networks.

YAW-YAW-YAW-YONKIE!

The Broadband Policy for South Africa is quite a few years old. I think it's time they re-thought the 256 kbps speed. Should be much higher in the year 2011.
