MTN's "uncapped" broadband a con?

Why do you still ask ? If it reads VodaCon, MTCon, NeoCon....if it smells like s h i t , it probably is s h i t .

You can argue till you are blue in the face but it wont help, somehow they have convinced themselves they are offering something good.

They must Seriously Stop sniffing Pronutro... They are actually just saying, we will be selling you a 3gb and a 10gb Account @ ripoff prices. I cannot See a Corporate user being happy to use 128kbps(edge type connection) in a HSDPA enabled area, especially if he/she have a large number of mails that needs to download from his Mail server.... Vodacom atm on Contracts do not throttle you, nor do they cut you off after you go out off bundle, you just pay allot more for out of bundle data, at the end of the month.

Its a total con.... Uncapped must mean exactly that, no throttling after a certain limit is reached... thats BS!
I was lucky enough to live abroad in the UK for 8 years and for the last 4 years i was with an ISP called BEThere... I paid £22.50 for Uncapped, unshaped 20mb, and while i realize that this is Africa, and we are a little behind, BeThere's fair usage policy was fair... 500GB a week, and i only EVER hit that once. Companies here are just throwing the uncapped wording around for the sake of trying to con customers who are not that tech savy !!!

"Uncapped" is the new catch phrase, like what "Free range" use to be
Lets wait for "Uncapped" TV viewing, burgers, toothpaste and wine ;-)

Why's MTN getting attacked when other ISPs have been doing it for ages?

Well right now www.mtn.co.za is not even working... Anyway.

Let's do the maths - let's just say that you use 10Gb at full speed - so you're then throttled to 128 kbps. That works out to (assuming you max it out) to 1.4Gb per day which is 42Gb per month. Add the 10Gb at full speed and that's 52Gb per month. WHICH IS NOT AN UNCAPPED ACCOUNT. If I were an ISP and said that I'm selling an uncapped account but limited you to 0.0001kbps, technically I'm not uncapped - fair? Don't think so...

so where are all the complaints to the ASA? It's no good us whining here like babies if nobody who wants to use the product or has actually signed up for the product will take it further.

Do I have to do everything?

The only cap a user should experience is the cap implicated by the line speed. Thus, if you have a 384kbps uncapped account your "cap" will be about 100GB. On 4mbps your "cap" is 1TB and on 7.2mbps your "cap" is 1.8TB

What MTN is selling here is UNCAPPED 128kbps for R799 per month. What they ARE NOT selling is UNCAPPED HSDPA. In effect one could say they are selling UNCAPPED GPRS.

You are right but also remember there is also the countless masses who are not tech savvy to see through this bull***** so we have to take what we know to the masses even if it means screaming at the top of your lungs to inform your neighbours !!!!!!!!
