Multichoice gifts raise industry ire

People can say what they want and declare all they should and want......

But they are infuenced by the giver no matter what. The moment you accept the gift, you are bought, in one way or another.

This way of infuence is the oldest and best trick in the book, and it works very well.
 
Dear MYBROADBAND team. You have succeed in making me intrested in digital news at a braai! I'm watching the pirates game and saw this story. FelT I needed to comment. The fact that I am with my best friends watching my fav sports just means uv succeeded in making this platform addictive! Well done!!! PS, "paid" officials could ne "Compromised" officials. Objectivity all the way!
 
So our action should be clear, we don't vote for the party of these corrupt politicians, who accepted these gifts, and we all get rid of Dstv !!! and maybe even of Mweb !Action speaks louder than words. After all it takes two to tango, one who accepts or solicits bribes or gifts, and one who pays bribes and showers with "gifts" .
 
Bribery and Corruptions is perfectly okay as long as you declare it. This is the new credo.

MTN dishing out phones - fine
SAB dishing out the beer - ok
British American Tobacco - free smokes for all - cool
Multichoice - decoders & free subs - ok

Multichoice - air travel / hotel accomodation / ipads & so on - uh uh - not right !!

Giving gifts to anybody in any form of government - not OK, cool or fine.
 
First it was beads and shiny things .. now its decoders and free trips. How cheap the supposed leaders have become...
 
Multichoice is no different from the mafia style cell phone companies. They are rotten to the core.

They have locked up exclusive content that prevents any other broadcaster acquiring it and all that does is push up the cost for the subscriber.They use this to extract exorbitant subscriptions from their customers A true definition of a monopoly and abuse of market power.

They are fully capable of bribing so that their stealing can continue. With the absence of true competition they have become bloated, inefficient, arrogant and tone deaf to their customers. They real goal is to loot!

An obvious case for unbundling and the removing of their exclusive deals. They are making super-normal profits, like any crime cartel. Multichoice is no different from a protection racket or a drug dealing enterprise.

The Competition Commission, National Consumer Forum, ICASA, Parliament, etc are all sleeping at the wheel. It took a left leaning government years to find out that the price of bread was being fixed.
 
I just voted with my wallet! I forgot to pay my MNET subs, obviously got disconnected on Friday. Called MonoChoice's customer care, their call handling system sucks! Eventually got told I am being put through to a rep... after pressing ##134#... a very helpful and understanding rep reconnected my MNET, told me it costs R50 for re-connecting! Fine, Saturday I got home, wanting to watch the last of the Sevens, of course I was disconnected again! I tried numerous time to get through to MC call centre, kept getting told I'd have to wait 30mins+. Eventually gave up frustrated, called the CC this morning, was told a system error disconnected me, bull**** I say... so I asked what compensation I would get for time wasted and cell call costs, was told it's not MC's problem... so it's fine to charge me R50 for re-connection, but there's no compensation for them wasting my time and money! So stuff you MC MNET & DSTV... I've cancelled my MonoChoice account and will be giving my money to the opposition!

Supersport can have their sport! I hate SA monopolies!
 
I am somewhat surprised that Simpeewe-Toothless-Nyanda's kickbacks from Monochoice were limited to a cellphone and a free Dstv subscription. Could it be that Nyanda received some tenders on the side that were never declared?

One of the moderators "MC Marietjie" is at the moment wetting her knickers laying down the law on what can happen on her threads.
Her lastest comment is " It is MCs forum and we will choose what goes on it"
When I compare other Sat distrubutors with similar data bases of customers I can only say at R600 a month MC are making a killing at out expense
Thank God for Slingbox and BBC/ITV/Ch 4 etc i players to give me my TV from the UK. Well worth the 12 rand a week for the proxy address. At less than 50 qand a month its far cheaper than MC at R600 a month with endless repeats. What's more I get more HD progs from the UK in a day than MC provide in a week and the picture on 42inch LCD is as good. (Oh yes I do pay a UK Licence at less than R2000 a YEAR for all this)

Acutally it is QUID or UK pounds or UK Sterling.

The reason I had to use such a term (spelt wrongly I admit) is the South Africans don't seem to have keyboards with a Sterling POUND sign on them.
The 2nd most widely used currency in the world but unkown in SA.
Surprised there isn't one for Coconuts then we could pay Monochoice in them. What is the exchange rate

I think to pay for a lot of things in SA an arm and a leg symbols would be more appropriate.
