Can you still sign up for this trial? I would be interested!!!
 
Any idea on pricing yet? I suppose you need a 4Mbps line for live streaming.

Also what hardware will be required - if any? How will they stop you downloading movies and saving them to your PC?
 
That's what we need companies like NoChoice and Telscum for, to tell us what we like, how we should do things and in general give us no choice in what we want...

Where would we be without them? (O ya, America style TV choice and 10MBit/Sec uncapped internet)
 
America is the sole reason for the 35 minute episode length "series" plastered with adverts to make it 59 minutes long.

What kind of bandwidth will this require? Only Telkom's 4Mbps could possibly give 'broadcast quality' (standard definition of course). If they say the streaming will work over 512Kbps then we will know what to expect.

NoChoice - lol.

With a current PVR you can watch 2 channels and record a third - I guess this is also out, unless you now need 3 x 4Mbps lines! :(

I wonder if DSTV would be interested in putting its weight behind the "local internet should be free" ICASA complaint?

With a service like this, they stand to benefit if it is...

If its not free for subscribers then they've got another thing coming if they think I'm paying them even more per month.

Its how they pay for it. Some of these shows cost well over $1 million per episode - where do you think the money comes from? The networks pay the tv license in the states not the viewer.

EDIT - Most "hour long" shows are actually over 40 min ;)

Will Telkom give them QOS? Because, if they don't have QOS, you might just as well not have the service. And if Telkom give them QOS, what other companies can ask for the same treatment (VoIP, VoD, etc)?
 
Well this does fuel the rumours of Multichoice looking at using Microsofts MediaRoom, which I'd like since I already have an xbox :)

But yeah, if its a fee over and above the normal Multichoice subscription then no thanks not interested.
 
It would have to be very cheap since u have to cover bandwidth costs.

You can be sure its not going to be a free service. Why give something for free when you can rip the public off and make a ton of cash.
