Multichoice MNET Racist share schemes

it was put in there to ensure EE laws would be constitutional...so basically descrimination against whites are seen as fair by the constitution.... guess who are second class citizens now :)

Discrimination by its very definition is unfair, but the government wisely made the constitution imply a difference. It was clever, but it makes our constitution no better than a roll of single ply mass produced industrial strength toilet paper. Edit: The kind you have to tear off with your teeth.

On a totally non related subject.

Tomorrow only - 10% sale on the New iPod Video 80Gb - that's right, get the new 80GB iPod video for only R3521.

Please note:
This discount is only valid for white South Africans, actually I feel generous, This offer is valid for White and Asian South Africans - Blacks, Coloureds and Indians don't qualify for the discount. Other race groups will be taken into consideration.
To the White and Asian buyers - You may not resell or give the iPod to a black (or coloured or indian) person, doing so will null and void your waranty.
This offer is only valid for the white body ipod video.

Exactly, amazing how our constitution is supposedly so liberal but yet it legalises discrimination.

@ ic you will have a nationwide strike and a commision of inquiry if that ever happens :)

 what if 1.4 million of those disadvantaged people buys R100 worth of shares each?
There's more of them hey? so what's the contradiction?

Okay I know there's a minimum of like R100 or so but still.
I'm arguing for a low share value MAXIMUM. That would make it unattractive to the wealthy, black or otherwise. If you can afford the millions at the top end for an individual then I argue that the offer is not meant for you.

heh, i wonder what would happen if a white South African tried to buy shares at the lower rate... and then argued that it was unconstitutional.

The problem is its not unconstitutional, according to the "interesting" phraseology in the SA constitution.

Hey, maybe targetting the shares at privileged black people when the stated aim of BEE is to empower the previously disadvantaged is unconstitutional?

Could be a case for it I suppose, even if you don't win it might bring some interesting intl media attention to the situation.

The funny thing is that most of these BEE deals end up with huge amounts of fraud taking place. Effectively enriching certain individuals and once more not coming anywhere near it's original goal.

multidark

I was just wondering, how long will it be before multichoice decides that cnn and sky news and the bbc arnt black enough, maybe they will also decide that supersport isnt black enough either, or maybe no more cricket because there arnt enough black players, what about FBI files on discovery where most of the criminals are black, make you wonder huh, multitrash you make me sick.

The Holding company of Multichoice and Media 24 have launched new share schemes - but under the following clause - Blacks only NO whites - Not only can't whites buy shares - If you are black and get an offer from a white buyer, you can't sell your shares or give them to a white friend. Oh, they try and dress it up as a BEE scheme, but its pure racism, imagine the outcry if they had a share scheme for whites only.
The surpervisor was too scared to give me her name - but why don't you give them a call on 0860116226, maybe ask them how they check if you are white - do they do the apartheid comb test - but this time if the comb runs through your hair then you are to white and you can't buy shares?
Very strange though that my money is fine every month for the debit order - but what next - black only seats at multichoice offices.
Don't try and hide racism as BEE - this country has been through this - what next multichoice? DSTV dual decoders for blacks only? how about a discount rate for Blacks - lets seperate the country again - it didn't work so well the first time, but why not try agani:mad:  ?

i thought thats what us subscribers are here for.
Aaah let me guess here, with some other players (ie. Sentech) wanting to become a competitor to Multichoice, this share option in my mind is almost like a "hey government , just remember us and what we are doing for BEE"

Get a life , and focus on "high quality entertainment , news and information".
