Munich ditches Linux

Hy home town. Good on them!
Personally, I have not seen the employees struggle too much - in fact they are lightning fast and efficient compared to the clowns over at Home Affairs. However, two weeks ago I was there to pick something up and they were told that all systems are down and they can only use manual processes. I still left within 15 minutes time spent there in total.

A failure of using Linux Desktop in the enterprise environment is usually down to:

1. Lack of browser based enterprise applications, or proprietary applications
2. Severe shortage of Linux Desktop administration technicians
3. Most distro's are getting really slow and bloated over the last 4 years.
4. as are many of the desktop apps. LibreOffice and OpenOffice are significantly slower that MS Office, which is already painfully slow. Abiword and GNUmeric by contrast, are much faster. But people insist that they want features over performance, where they actually need performance over features

MS Office looks faster as is preloading on Windoze start up. If you remove preloading (which should be done as it takes system resources for other applications), Office is painfully slow.

Windoze? Seriously.

Dude, are your 12 and think you're all l33t and a h4x0r?

I find office 2016 painfully slow after using office 2007 all these years. Wish they still did updates for 2007.

Still updated

Running Office 2007 Enterprise under Windows 7 Enterprise
I still get updates ( fixes / patches / security patches )
