Musicians' thread.

Can anyone recommend a decent guitar tuner for me? I'm having some trouble finding a decent one (Local music shop doesn't stock them :( )

Which kind are you looking for?
Just a clip on one? Or a stand along kind of job?
I don't really have any clue of which is best.
If just for around the house, then I'd suggest a freeware download that you can tune by ear from your PC speakers.

Otherwsie have a look at the link for some ideas: OrangeMusic

Other than that, my friend uses a Boss Pedal Guitar Tuner, which comes in very handing while playing gigs as he jumps between tuning settings quite a bit.
Not sure what they go for locally.

I have one of these, it works fine on my bass and acoustic but not on my electric - I don't think it's picking up enough vibration from it or something, though it might just need a new battery.

Not entirely happy with it, I just use Reatune that's built into Reaper before recording, I find it the most accurate way to tune up, personally. Otherwise I just use my ears and a test tone or something.

Hey guys.

Haven't posted here in a while but I thought I'd come around and share my recent musical endeavor.

Take a listen, I'd love to hear what you think. We're doing a sorta blues rock thing, but our influences are very broad so it's not exclusively that.

We're called Sam Numic. Follow the link to our page. Feel free to download the tunes plus we also have a little video taken at one of our shows recently.

Hope you like it!

Edit: Oh and I'd appreciate a FB 'like' if you're into that sort of thing :)

Excellent! Well done :)

Digging the sound!

ThrillseekerLA – digital stereo leveling amplifier with truly analog qualities.

At a glance:

  • Sophisticated and deep gain riding full of musical character and attitude but with virtually no inter-modulation (IM) distortion artifacts
  • Feedback compression design w/o any samplerate based delay in the loop
  • Classic input level driven two knob design with additional manual attack and release time interventions
  • Highly program dependent envelope timing adoption offering attack times ranging from “instantaneously” up to around 100ms and release times from 30ms up to several seconds
  • Mix level switch to adopt the plug-ins internal gain staging to mixing levels at around -18dBFS
  • Custom SC filter option to attenuate the SC bass response while slightly boosting the HF spectrum
  • Additional one pole (6dB per octave) SC low-cut filter adjustable from 20 to 500Hz
  • External sidechain support
  • Switchable Input/GR/Output metering display
  • Variable compression range control from 0 to 100%

In slightly unrelated news. I've figured out how to play that old classic from the 80's.... Ruiter van Die Windjie by that rose tossing genius - Bles Bridges! What a laugh! :D

I've lost most of my music due to a drive crash, but I was going through my dropbox folder to see if I had any 'electronic' music lying around.

This is probably one of the perhaps 4 songs I've messed around on that actually have a beginning and an end. Maybe I posted it in Musician's thread, not sure.

If anyone listens to it, I'd be be interested if you can hear it going out of tune in parts (something strange happened on mixdown maybe), as I'm hearing that now.

Sorry Pooky, don't want to mess around with your thread, I can move this to my music thread if you'd like. I just started looking for one example, and went a bit haywire. :o
