Seriously We get flack for leaders not saying anything and when they do condemn something we get flack as its not good enough?
Look They (us, we) should be condemning all of the atrocities, agreed. I'm not even asking to give them a noddy badge for Effort, but at least look at it as a small step in the right direction?

The wow is actually for you guys expecting a pat on the back for something that is quite meaningless.

I am reminded of the Pallo Jordan issue when people were singing his praises after the schit hit the fan.

Nope not asking for a pat on the back, not even want an "about freaking time", actually not asking for anything, the Wow was that I noticed every thread we would get the comment "Your muslim leaders never say anything when other muslims kill etc etc " (or similar)and now they actually do say something its not good enough or apparently a lie.

So ya wow just wow

I actually get what you are saying. Does not change the fact that my gut is telling me that this is a bunch of false BS. If I dont believe something then I dont believe something until I am convinced in someway.

Why do you think this specifically is "false BS"?

Why do you find it hard to believe that a South African Muslim leader would sincerely condemn ISIS?

Isie the thread has gone off the rails again. You can see from the responses, especially from the expert on mind reading Ockie, that nothing will be good enough. As you and I both stated, a small step in the right direction! But alas the general attitude would be "no matter what you say, I will not listen".

Because of what I said before. Condemn everything that I mentioned before and other atrocities being commited in the name of islam or your words are empty to me.

I have repeated my reasons I think about 3 times now. I have done so without attacking you or isie. If you want to make this personal, then that is up to you.

As much as I think of this only happening due to pressure. I do accept the gesture as a step in the right direction. Baby steps and all that.

And that's all anyone is saying, someone with some common sense. No one is asking for medals or a 'well done old chap'. All the thread is, is to show the other side of the Muslim world.

While I've made a similar point numerous times (in a different context), that's actually a fallacy - called appeal to hypocrisy. Him not condemning everything you think he should doesn't invalidate the sincerity of his condemnation of ISIS.

Why can't we just look for some common ground and acknowledge it when it's found, while still arguing for consistency?

You claim to be all for human rights and equality but when a step is taken in the right direction, you need to take us two steps back. Support the good and condemn the evil, as simple as that. I'm fairly sure that it a 'good' statement but people have been too silent for too long about too many unacceptable acts. Can we agreed that this is a start but more needs to be condemned?

To all those questioning why you don't see Muslims marching in the street condemning ISIS, I'd like to ask you guys this:

Why aren't YOU marching in the streets condemning ISIS? Isn't it hypocritical that you call us hypocrites for not doing something, that you yourself are not doing?
