MW2: Our game has changed forever

Sad thing is console is where the big money is right now and sadly it is getting worse by the day in terms of pc games.

I bought a ps3 but the thought of playing with a controller scares me, guess i will have to get used to or lose out. For FPS shooter anyhow.

the change is rough at first but you catch on REALLY quickly. and you can be REALLY accurate with a controller... check out "zzirgrizz" on youtube. he plays on xbox and he is godlike. 360 spins and headshots from the hip with a sniper rifle? sick.

in spite of my comfort with the controller, i would still have preferred playing with my mates on PC on a local dedicated server where we can join up, with NO lag (80 ping max). all this means is that ill skip this game completely. ill play gears and battlefield on console then

F yea!!!!!!!!! need a new bf for sure :D.

Sad about this but o well, march is not far away besides i can go buy battlefield 1943 for ps3, hmmm good idea.

Just to clear up some confusion:

You host this game on your own line. You can then join other people afaik. I think it only lets people of your own rank to join, although i could be wrong. I was/still am under the impression that you host the server on your own line.

That sounds about right, which also means you'll have only a handful of players on a server or huge lag.

How cool is that :p

oh awesome! a nice 24 player game would only need upload speed of 10mbps, so that means as soon as telkom doubles our current max upload speeds we will be about 1/10 of the way :D

can you imagine what the poor fool who hosts a full game will have to pay in bandwidth costs?

Don't forget, your line needs to 'upload' the data back as well ;) So 4MB line = 512KB (@ 64KB pp = 8 People MAX), 512KB= 256KB (4 People MAX), 384KB=128KB (2 People MAX).

I'd pity the poor sods that would connect to a 384 line.

That's exactly what he pointing out... at double our current upload, we'd still be 1/10th of the way...

10Mb of upload should be enough to carry 24 players, since 384K is enough to play with. Dropping to 64K per player is simply not good enough anymore. 192K per player at the very least to avoid excessive spikes.

dumb question: if i wanted to play with my 3 friends in the same game with lots of other people running around, how would you go about that?

Connect with 3G while sitting on a soccer field during a game.

EDIT: Not enough information is available about how their system would work to tell you.
yeah, but why a soccer field? couldn't you choose a mans game? even ballet is more manly

If the number of cancellations of PreOrders we're receiving is any indication then that's going to be quite a big drop for that bucket.

Of course considering the hit we were taking on Pre-Orders after the price [insert term of choice] debacle we're only too happy to see the cancels. As long as they don't expect to get them re-instated if it emerges that the situation is not the catastrophe its assumed to be.

could it be that IW are conspiring with online sellers to rectify the price increase problem that they caused? highly unlikely, but surely that would be something you need to think about while enjoying a doobie

holy cow, 60k signatures in under 24 hours, teh peoples, they be pissed! :D

PC was only around 10% of CoD4 sales, apparently. While that does equate to around 1.4 million copies, which is nothing to be sneezed at, such a low percentage doesn't make it seem likely that the developer will be that interested in giving PC gamers 'what they want', rather than testing out their 'new amazing mp gaming experience'. If it all goes horribly wrong, their main console market should be unaffected and more than able to cover, especially if the game is otherwise well made.

IW can go **** themselves.

No dedicated servers, WTF!!! Another case of game developers forgetting about our crummy internet :(
