MWEB 2nd week throttled

Do you know what the figures are for standard and premium 4mbps?

MOrning, the Standard 4Mbps has a threshold of approximately 110GB (uploads not included in throttling threshold).

Morning!

And the Premium 4mbps?

EDIT: And could you also list the standard and premium threshold for 10mbps and what speed they all drop to if you are throttled (including the 4mbps services)? Thanks.

It;s because the throttling works on a 30day window. Since you haven't been with the company for 30days they need to predict your usage.

I'm with you on this. Makes perfect sense to me. At first I was very surprised he was throttled at 35GBs until I saw it was after only two weeks.

The reason I'm happy with mweb is that I can control my usage and affect on my service. I see with other ISPs, here's looking at you AH, that people are experiencing poor performance at random times dependant on other people's usage.

I'm paying or going to pay R199.00 pm for 2mbps uncapped, so Standard I guess. Deal with the free routers.
No where on the ADSL page state which package.
I guess I'm lucky then?

Thanks Dubes.

Okay i Checked it out. sorry not getting back as in yesterday. My line is running back on its normal speed. What I have noticed though is even if you are throttled its only on Downloading. where they cut me from 2mbps Line running at 190kb's to a 256kbps line running at 20 - 25 kb's max. My uploading however stayed at 512kbps at approx 40kb's. Im using this line imperially for gaming purposes. So I had to update all my crap as I had to wait for telkom to install dsl port for 5 months. My response time were also the same at 19ms. Just glad there was no updates. But my question now is what happens if my games all have 1GB updates +. Ill be throttled. Don't MWEB have a package bolt on like telkom's DO Gaming bolt on that does not count any steam, origin, blizzard data as they are the highest?

Hi BennieKalse

All download load usage is calculated to the threshold. No we do not have a Gaming specific package.

@Mweb guy. please if you would be so kind and quote the UAP law that state how much data can be used in a uncapped package. Not being rude. just interested. As i see there is written

"We reserve the right to manage our network in order to optimize its efficiency for the benefit of all our subscribers, including, without limitation, by way of the following: rate limiting (speed), rejection or removal of spam or otherwise unsolicited bulk e-mail, anti-virus mechanisms, protocol filtering and imposing restrictions on your use. We may take any other action we deem appropriate in order to help ensure the integrity of the network experience for all subscribers, including limiting your data traffic by controlling your network and/or bandwidth usage."

So after all of this its mweb that decides 70gb on standerd (UNCAPPED) and 200gb on premium(Uncapped) If so and there is no law within the UAP then I guess that subscribers ar paying all for nothing. Then afrihost is the King alternative as they say and I quote "its an all you can eat buffet for 1 great price" SO they're also implementing UAP policies and yet they do throttle. but not cutting your line to be so that A steam train is faster to deliver data. and also it just happens in peak hours

Thanks man

Okay i am somewhat confused, so if i used 40gbs last month, and i use 60gbs this month, are you going to throttle me?
I currently have 10+ devices connected to the Wifi, and have no idea who wil download what, if im going to get throttled before i used up my 110GB’s im not going to be happy.
This far i have been very happy though, but only used ±30gbs basically for updates, cellphones and streaming, this will change in the very near future.

Look-over-your-shoulder internet.... lol.
