Well i guess it was good while it lasted.

I got an abuse warning from Mweb after doing an average of 500gigs a month. Tried to curb my downloads and brought usage to 350 gigs per month still got a second warning. Now i think i am on my last. :(

Any advise as to whats out there at the great value that mweb had? Openweb's uncapped unshaped after hours thing any good?

Thanks

Why dont you look at getting a bonded solution going?
Get a few more accounts and go crazy, spread your bandwith out over the lines.

Kick'em to the curb for falsely stating you can download as much as you want when you signed up, not only are there plenty of good alternatives they are almost all cheaper that MWEB too.

That would make my HDD full in 2 months :O I'm surprised Derek Hershaw didn't come to your house and unplug your computer himself

they are quite clear that its an uncapped account with a FUP. learn to read.

You guys are so funny... You do know that the avg 720p YouTube vid is 500mb right? Thats 2 per gig = 250 vids per 500GB ~ 8 vids a day... I personally watch around 2-5 shows a day (news, updates and some for fun... I havent used TV in YEARS) if there is more than one avid YT user in your house, then you are poked!

I stick to 360p :p I don't like full screen, the things happening around the videos keep my ADD happy

Right now I average about a gig a day, and even I don't have time to watch all the stuff that I download...mostly watch it on weekends, when I'm not working. But 500 gigs a month sounds beyond ridiculous...can you even consume all that bandwidth? That's considering that you have a life away from your PC monitor.

do that maths... hes saying that he spends 4 hours on youtube (a day) alone. add in tv series, movies, game time.

Quite pathetic really.

So true there is so much sh*it out there its funny to hear that you guys think 500 gigs is far fetched. Ever watch overseas channels online, series, movies anything you want its online. DSTV is so last season :) . IPTV must come and come quick. Get yourself an extreamer and program the live tv function and start streaming media in HD. I got a 10meg that max out at 8 and im loving it. Now if only the unshaped 10 megs was R600 then i would completely get rid of dstv. If you ask me those guys who cant believe i did 500 gigs in a month probably does not know whats out there or how to get it.

Also on another note Mweb has been great. No complaints there.

I will attach a quote from the abuse department so others have a bit of insight as to what they regard as abusive.

"The abuse process is not related to how much total bandwidth is utilised in a month. Uncapped means precisely that, UNCAPPED. There are no monthly limits.

However, in keeping with MWEB's Terms and Conditions and Fair Use Policy, referred to in our previous correspondence, the abuse process is triggered by, amongst other parameters, a prolonged period of high daily usage patterns. In other words if your usage patterns are identified as attempting to download as much as you can, as fast as you can every day for a number of consecutive days, your requirement is not suited to an Uncapped Shaped Home Use ADSL product"

If i understand correctly you don't have to do 500gigs a month to get warned, all you need to do is leave you machine on and run downloads continuously.

Looks like I am one of them that doesn't know whats out there. Currently I download my weekly series, any good movie I see that is worth downloading and I stream anime and thats about it. I have run out of Ideas on what to download and rarely ever break 150g a month anymore. (With Openweb not Mweb)

And what is the quality of the stuff that you download? SD, HD? 720p, 1080p?

Because I do just as you do (only it's all automated) but in HD (720p for series, 1080p for movies) and I'm sitting on 600 gigs this month.

Mp4 is small and you can get it @ 200megs but If you like me and have a full on home theater setup you don't wanna watch anything under 1080P Blue ray and that goes up to 8gigs and more
