right i have 2 major issues, i have a 4 meg line and account

1. my line seems to keep dropping, was working fine till late may now constant dropping, last night it stopped all my downloads and they frooze, my router was showing the adsl light but not the internet, is this telkom or mweb,

2. my internet is shockingly slow on all websites, cant even browse, worse than dial-up, i phoned mweb last week, i've had 2 good days since, the rest shocking, no downloads getting through, extremely slow browsing, its becoming seriously frustrating, close to a grand a month for crap service

1. I would think it is Telkom.
Try plugging in a telephone in the ADSL line and see if you can dial out.

2. Perhaps Telkom again. Search the forum, there is loads of threads regarding interference, bad line sync and slow downloads.

Phone Telkom and let them do a line test. If that's fine, contact MWEB and have them look into it.

but mweb can't cut the adsl link surely, but the slow internet makes me think its mweb, have failed to download the last few nights, its really annoying seen as night time is the only worthwhile time to download

My 4MB line also painfully slow - has been like this for the last 3 days. HTTP browsing is very slow - it feels like HTTP traffic has been shaped to a 384K line.

Last week was good - over 3.0 Mb/s 50ms pings during the day. This week 0.25 - 0.8 Mb/s 125 ms pings.

Have got reference call open with MWEB. Telkom have done port re-create and cannot find anything wrong with the line.

I want to congratualate MWeb is sucessfully deceiving their customers.
let me explain.

i have a 4meg uncapped account. i have known before i sign up that this is a shaped account, but i have never thought that it will be shaped into the ground.

so i did the speedtest thing, and got 4 meg. So my telkom portion is correct, and i know that i can also get 4 meg from my adsl account.

So i performed a download from EC Council website, and got 4k at night i got 20K
So i did a download from microsoft and got 60K
I did a download from tucows and got 21K
I then did a download form Raqpidshare and got less that 1k.

Over the last couple of days i did a couple of download tests, inside of my firewall and on the outside.
At the end i rteleased thaqt i have been deceived by MWeb.

and i would like to warn other internet users not to buy the Mweb ADSL home account.
This is my statement. --- MWeb will sell you a ADSL account, but you will NEVER get what you pay for !!!! ----

After i have called them thay blamed telkom. i then ended up calling saix who gave me a test account. On this test account i got 4 meg download speed, but downloading the same content with the mweb account, i got 2 k.

When i called Mweb again, i was told that they share "Fire Shareing sites". Yes , i understsand that you share them, but there is a difference in sharing them that it does not use up a lot of bandwidth and shaing them that they cannot be used.

In the Mweb case, they have shaped "File Sharing sites" and it now seems like general HTTP traffic into the ground.
Downloading a 20Meg file fromthe EC Counsil takes 3 Hours.

People be warned, You are going to waste your money if you move to MWeb.
"Mweb, the Compnay that deceive their customers into paying for something that thay will never get."

this is their statement on their website.
Broadband ADSL: Uncapped

* Use as much data as you like
* FAST always-on Internet access
* Phone and surf the web at the same time
* Pay a fixed monthly price
* Ideal for video calling, downloads and running a small office

i have one word (change font to 72, and bold) BULL****!
we have problems making skype calls, our DynDns does not update from time to time.
and not even to talk about video calling, does nto work!!!
dont go for this option, you are wasting your money!!!

Needless to say, i have cancelled my Mweb account

not even getting 1kbps on rapidshare, its a joke, speedtest.net coming back with under 0.5mbp/s when i am paying for a 4 meg, this has been going on too long so far this month, i'm starting to think its time to leave mweb

just had a good 2 hours and now in the last 30mins its cut out at least 6 times,

if the adsl light turns off, is it telkom or your isp (in my case mweb)

i'm thinking its telkom as my router has nothing coming in, on the other hand when it does come in it shows a healthy 4 meg line while speedtest shows a shocking, well waited and its so slow it wont even load speedtest, this is seriously starting to really get on my nerves

update, just woke up there, quickly checked my rs downloads, crawling at 20KB/s, speedtest show 0.35mbpps so on a 4 meg account they have me down to a 384 account whole charging me for a 4 meg, this is a bloody joke, downloading the same movie now since sunday

WIN! Rather just go and buy the movie though. At this rate.

actually considering dumping the internet and buying a blu-ray drive for 1300,people in work will then chip in and rent movies, looks a better option than at the minute

actually phoned mweb, got some bull saying that there is a problem and they are fixing and that is causing my line to keep going down, well they better sort it fast
