MWEB bursting?

I have a standard bundled 1 meg uncapped account with MWeb. My line speed is 10 meg although I pay for 1 meg (I did inform MWeb).

Tonight I downloaded a 180 meg file from the University of the Free State at an average speed of 400 KB/s. I have never experienced speeds above 1 meg on this account before. Has anyone else experienced similar bursts? Please excuse me if this is old news, I've been in the bush the last week.

I would have kept quiet. Free speed :P
 
I've seen this on other ISP's as well. Seems if there's enough capacity available you can go over the speed limit on the uncapped accounts.
 
happen to me other morning for a hour or so when downloading on steam, got full speed on a 1mb product also.
 
I fell in the wrong IP range for three hours the other day I got 90kb/s on a 4meg.. after I phoned for a reset I was doing 850kb/s downloads!
 
After an awesome night of real broadband, it appears to be back to normal this morning. Oh well.

Wonder if this is a scheme to get me to upgrade ;)

MWEB Guy said it was an anomaly and that I should enjoy the extra speed :p
