Hi All,

I’d like to introduce myself as the new official representative for MWEB Business, the business division of MWEB SA. I am here to assist with the following;

- Answer any questions or queries regarding our product functionality, pricing and solutions
- Provide technical support and escalation to our Technical Operations division
- Act as a conduit to our sales and account departments for any related queries
- Discuss any general matters including suggestions with respect to MWEB Business

One caveat, I am not the official representative for our consumer/soho division, namely MWEB Connect. Until such time as they finalise their representative I’ll try to help out as best as possible, but I can’t make any promises on that front.

Hope to be hearing from you.

Regards,

MWB

LOL... ja... good luck with that. :p

M-Web does not have a very good name around here.

Welcome and thanks for at least making the initiative :)

Hi Gary, hopefully by better engaging the myBB community we can become more proactive in sorting out issues, clearing up any misunderstandings and yes, where we may have dropped the ball, cracking the necessary whip.

Welcome MWEB Business. Great to see a company like MWEB interacting directly with consumers.

Thanks for showing up here. It's a bold, brave move.

What product and services do MWB Business offer, and what differentiates you from you competition?

Welcome Mweb, thank you and i am sure this will really help out alot of people here.

Its just a pitty that you do not represent the Consumer/home users which i am sure make up majority of people on this forum who use your services.

My first question to you: One of your agents contacted me the other with regards to a complaint/issue i had. He said that a price drop was around the corner (1st Sept actually). A price drop that would place your offering to be more competative with Telkoms Do Products and future Cybersmart offerings.

Can you please give us more info with regards to this.
Thank you

Hi MWEB Rep

Please explain why MWEB has decided to load standard ADSL accounts as 'uncapped' and then charging the client R200 per GB for additional usage.

Example, client signs up for 1GB account, but instead of it being capped at 1GB, usage goes over and client is charged at R200 per GB. My usage went to 6GB and I was charged R1000 more. This happenned to me. I was not informed that the account would not be capped, nor was I informed of the out-of-bundle rate when I signed up.

At least they're trying, so props for that.

Once you get someone here who can get back to me about a cellular enquiry then I'd be pleased.

Been two weeks, one online application, two e-mails and no word.

Done trying to get feedback from them, so ja...

How do you have it set in your top-up settings?

There are a few options there....

1) No top-up (goes to local bandwidth then)
2) per megabyte usage
3) auto-purchase or manual purchase extra gigabytes.

Sounds like you have it set on per megabyte usage.

Nope, I never even logged into myaccount.mweb.jerk.off. They loaded for it me after I completed a sign-up form for the 1GB account. No mention was made on the form about whether it would be capped, so logically, I assumed it would be capped, since every ISP does this. They refused to refund me.

MWEB seems to have changed to this new system. I'd like to know why?

I actually think that the per megabyte usage after capped is the DEFAULT action on all new ADSL accounts, since you are not the first person complaining about it. Just another reason to hate M-Web! :D

That's what I've heard, plus they don't inform clients of the out-of-bundle rate. I take it they are required to inform clients before, by law???

You would think so... at least according to the new Consumer Protection Legislation... maybe there is some fine print hidden somewhere, never seen it. But M-Web are one of the most expensive ISPs in South Africa, so it is no surprise that they would have little "features" hidden all over the place which can generate insane amounts of cash for the ISP.

Hi Gatecrasher,

Yeah, I know myBB is quite a tough crowd and I am expecting a bit of a baptism of fire.

What product and services do MWB Business offer, and what differentiates you from you competition?

I think before we get into specifics, let me first clarify MWEB Business' market positioning.

We are a business communication solutions provider/integrator and as such our focus in not on specific product, but rather the most suitable, cost-effective solution for our customers. These solutions are made up from our bouquet of products, some in-house developed and some sourced from other operators, with the aim of ensuring that each individual product set is best-of-breed in nature.

We interface with our customers is via a single (on-site) account manager, through which all sales & service request can be channelled. In essence we aim to provide a corporate like customer engagement experience for small to large business with the primary focus being on the mid-sized companies. MWEB Business therefore do not sell product telephonically or via the web, this is handled by our Connect division. Naturally we do provide 24/7 telephonic support.

A good starting point would be to peruse our website www.mwebbusiness.co.za to get an overview of our individual products, and should you have specific questions I’ll be glad to delve deeper into them.

So many cliches in one small paragraph. Sounds like BS and $$$ to me.
