I think they do...Reason being:

I was getting the full 4 meg speed of my yesterday evening, this morning (im off from work today so I'm not used to using my ADSL during the day) and my Router is syncing at the full speed (see attached images)...

I ran multiple Speedtests and all of them came up with the same result more or less, the Upload is unaffected but the Download is really LOW! like 256k kinda slow! unbelievable.

I'm gonna try to get an OpenWeb trial account today because I'm seriously considering moving to another ISP and P2P ...thats really lame wont even go there (a linux distro I downloaded had a huge amount of seeds and a few leechers and its download never went over 100k/s! )

I've noticed too even when I come home from work the line doesn't max out in speed most of the times...usually around 2mbps to 2.5mbps....

Anyhow check the images and tell me what you guys think of OpenWeb.

thanks :)

I'm on MWEB 4mb uncapped as well and I have noticed that torrents have been slow in general of late. Luckily I don't use torrents much so it doesn't really phase me.

I stream a lot of HD content and that's working fine.

I think you may be jumping to conclusions a bit too quickly there. I've done over 100GB this month and I just ran this speedtest on my 10Mbps line:

Maybe there is some other problem?

I wish I knew what it was, MWeb says theres nothing wrong with my account, The telkom fault tech that came out said my line "passed" some test they use to determine if there is a line fault at hand....I wish I knew what it was... Any suggestions?

I cant manage to stream HD 720p on youtube flawlessly, It needs to buffer for around 30 seconds. And then in the middle of it it buffers again....

And I just tried downloading a file from Microsoft's Website (Ive seen they usually max out the line speed on big downloads) and it doesnt creep over 100k/s...

I just hope there is a fix

It could be that one of the Akamai clusters in SA has gone for a ball of snot, happens sometimes and then they switch to someother one that is overloaded or located in Punjabistan and everything goes slow for a bit.

I'm on OpenWeb Vanilla Uncapped after moving over from MWEB and I haven't had much issues. Bear in mind though that congestion at the exchange or lack of IPC from could be the cause of your issues.

Thanks for all the input guys, I'm just gonna leave it for a while and check if its faster in a bit but atm its really useless...even refreshing the thread takes time.. :ugh:

I wouldn't mind blaming telkom for the issue though xD if it is their fault I wont be surprised.

Most likely your DSLAM is congested.

I just got my hands on the OpenWeb Trial account. And I got to 4mbit speed immediately when running the speedtest. I'm going to reconfigure the MWeb account and compare the results.

This looks promising or maybe its just good timing :(

I have the same complaint. It's not throttling, but we are being SEVERELY shaped. Especially bad between 15:00 and 19:00 and all since their new products have been launched.

My online gaming (US Server) is non existant, never mind YouTube. 4Mb Uncapped premium account.

I have not had issues yet *touches my wooden table*, am on MWEB 2mb Uncapped, but I suspect with the new VDSL packages coming in, we can expect things to get poopy.

Never had issues with my online gaming (EU servers 99% of the time), Latency has always been decent 230-260ms for Diablo III and Planetside 2, still need to check what my EVE Online Latency is like, but I suspect it might be around 200ms seeing as Tranquility is hosted in London.

GW2 latency (first time I have ever noticed this) has dropped dramatically. This has not been an issue, but got progressively worse over the last 2 weeks. Playing any FPS is pointless, although it worked 100% fine 8 months ago.

I cant even play a ORTS game. Keeps disconnecting on MWEB (if I was lucky enough to connect in the 1st place).

Yea boet...stay the heck away from Mweb. They are on a 30 day notice here, after being extremely chuffed till around December.

My 4meg line only runs at max 1.7 international, while 2 test accounts at other ISPs averaged nothing less than 2.5 testing back to back.

I'm done, adios Mweb.

Dont want to derail the thread, but what HD content are you streaming? Youtube or HD TV?

I too am on 4mb uncapped premium, and it seems to work fine for me.

Hi drkd3vil

Please allow me the opportunity to look into this from our side. You said you ran multiple speedtests, please can you send me those results via PM, along with your MWEB email or username.

Also, when you have tested with the other ISP account, send that as well as I would like to compare the 2. Can you let me know what you are downloading also, is it torrents, http downloads, etc.

Ugh, I don't know what's up with mweb, but last night I was monitoring netlimiter ; and YouTube in chrome wasn't buffering faster than 50kbps, same with that bioshock preorder website that uses flash. Steam downloads were cruising though.
