I'm getting tons of SPAM for a start. MWEB claims they have a SPAM filter and deny it doesn't work. I have about 40 e-mails from various spammers. The system also has a blocker, but that doesn't work either.

I can't send mail to [email protected] (their technical support address). They say I must use another browser (IE and not Firefox).

I seriously am starting to wonder if they have got qualified staff looking at things.

Anyone else tried it.

The Webspace system doesn't work either.

I just forward all the mail they send to me to my gmail account. Never use mweb mail. And what forums?? I've never heard of a forum/or site that doesn't like web hosted email addresses, especially Google mail or Yahoo. Isn't an email address ...well just a plain and simple email address? They, whoever they are, can actually be picky and say, "nah-ah, you have Gmail. We no like. Use someone else."

It depends on which forums you visit, but I know quite a few who prefer ones that are not so anonymous for reasons of trust.

I've had my @mweb.co.za address since March 2000 (yes, 2000) and I've never had spam delivered to me that I can't trace back to some source, be it a mass spam list (that has a billion emails on it) or something I signed up to via proxy (a parent company).

Tanya, your constant slating of MWEB is getting old. If you consolidated your facts into realistic and believable accusations then most of us would take you seriously, but sadly it's become the most extreme case of boy (or girl) that cried wolf. MWEB isn't great, I'll be the first to admit, but they're not nearly as bad as you're trying to make them out to be. I have no idea why you continuously use a service you don't like. There are plenty other companies offering uncapped services, so please move onto them.

I used to be with MWEB since 1997 until about 3 years ago. My email address was quite short, so easy for bots to generate. The email address was not known to many people, no newsletters etc. I got A LOT of spam - probably 10-20 per day.

I then forwarded some of them to [email protected] and it got progressively less. It never fully stopped, but a marked improvement. Nowadays I just use my own email account linked to my domain and manage my own spam filter or gmail.

I've also noticed Tanya35's name pop up on the forum as a marketing person from one of the other "large" ISPs. I don't know how true it is but it definitely would explain the constant slating of Mweb. I have had absolutely no spam coming through on my Mweb email address and this ...

I can't send mail to [email protected] (their technical support address). They say I must use another browser (IE and not Firefox).

... makes absolutely no sense to me. If you really cant get hold of them (for whatever problem YOU might be experiencing) then simply pick up the phone and call them.

I've encountered forums and web shops which don't accept free email account registrations.

I use ananzimail as my free web based e-mail account for the last 13 years. It has a rather small mailbox but works well for ad hoc e-mails.

That's cool but why use Ananzi Mail where you already have a free email with your account - with support to boot - called MWEB Web Mail?

I know. Only signed up with M-Web a month ago.

Also BTW, I have my own domain for e-mail. I use the ananzi one for "other" things. Like signing up to certain forums, sites etc etc. My domain mail stays nice and clean that way.

Have no idea what you're on about. Have been with MWEB for years, our company has over the years used a few other ISPs for company email, and MWEB has been the only one that was effective in screeining out the spam.

OK, no that's cool. You use it as a temporary throw away address. I have a gmail account for that too.
