Hi guys,
I'm pretty sure judging from the 154 pages that precede this one that there has been much ranting and raving about problems, and thinktanking about solutions. I have read through a large part of this thread and found that two things are clear.
Intermittently, for whatever the reason may be, most mweb users experience massive lag on their chosen online game, making it nearly impossible to do anything useful or entertaining.
Secondly, that a lucky few for whatever reason, be it the gaming gods or just some little setting tweaked somewhere, don't share this fate.
The issue I have today, is that although everything appears to be in working order - IE browsing is stable, telkom says my line has no issues, windows downloads its updates happily ( and disgustingly speedily ) and the MWeb page reports no connectivity issues in my area, or at this point any other area - my gaming is, as it has been for the past 4 or 5 days dismal. WoW for example will give me false hope by connecting quickly, giving me a nice little yellow latency icon and then just when I'm lulled into a state of gaming peace, it cracks me over the head with a rediculous delay, followed by an untimely dc.
Being at least schooled in the basics of troubleshooting, I duely tested my connection at another location, with another router and pc and even WoW account - same story. Now this would not bother me if it were a universal issue, but my old roomate, who has a telkom account, is reporting ( and here is the insult to the injury ) FASTER average latency. I also attempted various other fixes, registry tweaks, new network drivers, a router firmware update, new network cable, new dsl line cable. I even went as far as formatting ( but then again, I was just waiting for a reason on the last one

)
As a person who's been on both ends of a few complaints, I understand first off, that unforseen events arise, and all sorts of issues can cause things to go awry. To that end, this will not be a post meant as a shouting match. Rather, a means to state my case.
I am a subscriber to the 4mb uncapped mweb data bundle, I do all the things usually associated with internet users, but specifically I game and download - Combined this takes a reasonable amount of cap, hence the choice of bundle. I understand the need for daytime throttling, especially during average office hours, when many people earn an important part of their livelyhood from their connectivity to the world through internet. As such, I expect to see slow downloads and higher delays in the games I play. Perfectly normal. Also I can understand the odd disconnect because local bandwidth is overloaded due to all the internet users being at home gaming or browsing or whatever choose to do. I also don't mind the odd connectivity issue, dead connection or even problems that extend for a day or two ( or longer if its something major, like a seacom break ).
Note though, that I say "the odd disconnect" or "higher delays" and "a day or two". I say this because I do expect that the service I pay for, in advance every month I might add, should actually function to expectation (within the parameters established above). What I have been faced with of late, is a situation where the connection does not serve the primary reasons I subscibe to it.
My point in all this ramble is a short one - If you have to pay any amount of money that you could - in theory, spend somewhere else - for a service that does not do what it is being paid for over extended periods of time and does not explain to you why there is a problem or when they expect it to be solved, would you be happy?
