World of Warcraft

Anyone else getting really bad lag in World of Warcraft? My latency has been jumping up and down from 600ms to 1500ms. My speedtests seem to be fine.

This seems to be happening from yesterday, and only in WoW.

im on a 4 mb line for the past week i think ive been getting random lag spikes... my latency is still 200-400 ok... but then at random moments i get spiked goes up to 1500-2000 then comes back down untill the next spike, its realy anoying during raids when were progressing in firelands. also watching videos seems to be slowing down too i usualy dont have to wait for anything to buffer but now watching something on youtube takes ages..... though when i run a download on steam it goes at 300-400 kb/s so i dont know what the issue is

Terrible latency problems on WoW again. 621ms Ping atm and spikes that last for a few seconds.

Edit : Cant get lower than 500ms latency now.

Edit again : I cant raid on my Mweb account because i DC

Well tonight i raided off a 1gb account that i bought just to raid. MwebGuy/Will what is going on?

Ended up doing the same, 2 days ago I bought a 3GB Axxess account just for WoW and I am very impressed with it. My latencies in the middle of the boss fights in raids were 232ms home, 250ms world. Compared to Mweb, where I get in raids 300ms home, 350-400ms world.
This is the best latency I have ever seen. Seems that I will have to keep this extra account around just for WoW.

I didn't even try to use my Mweb account yesterday night, but I know my brothers were struggling just to log on to WoW, eventually managing only around 20:00 to even get into the game.

Don't know if Mweb is playing around with their shaping rules or what, but it cannot be trusted it seems for some online games.

For those having issues getting stuck at the Success screen or long wait times to see your realm load/charaters load etc. One suggestion just to try out. Instead of running the Launcher app, just run wow.exe straight from your wow directory, and see if the same lag issues persist. You should notice a difference.
But either way, just post some feedback here if you have tested this out.

EDIT: I have experienced the slowness when logging in, and running wow.exe instead of the launcher solved the issue. I would guess that the launcher initiates some form of p2p which is being labeled as "throttle-worthy" data.

Also just to reitterate, I'm in CT. World latency is 230 ms, Home latency is 170ms on my Mweb 4mb uncapped account on a 10mb telkom line. My WA and Afrihost spare accounts (which I have had to use on the odd occasion, in the last few weeks, to play online [wow and bfbc2 would not connect on mweb] however their latency's exceed Mweb's, which is why I prefer to stick to running on Mweb only.... when it works.)

Thanks SMJ. I'm not sure why the launcher would significantly change the login experience unless it was actually running some sort of update traffic in the background - I'll get some testing going on our side and see if we can get to the bottom of this latest run of complaints.

Hi M-WEB,

I am running on Telkom Wi-max 512kb/s and thus far i am very impressed with M-WEB. I have your Uncapped, unshaped solution and whilst playing WoW getting really decent Pings.
Having an uncapped service that is 100% unshaped and 100% non throttled is win win for me. I download steam games often and that means i burn through Cap quickly. While other ISP's throttle your account according to your line speed vs the amount i download i find that to be a bit unfair. I am forced to get a max of 512 kb/s and then if i download 1 game i am screwed.

So thank you M-WEB for offering Uncapped and most importantly 100% unshapped.
