MWEB Gaming Feedback

No problem

We did some extensive testing this evening staggering the application of after hours shaping on North and South to try and see if we can isolate the hotspot on the network.

Sounds like great fun for a friday night! ^.~ Ill be sure to try out WoW again tomorrow as we have a few guild raids going on, will let you know

Any update if there is a fix yet? MTU settings ****ing up some other stuff on my pc. I also set the LAN mtu in cmd once, didnt know which to set and which to leave, now i cant get the lan back from 750.
Basically ****ing me over every day, more and more.

Update: Battleping used to work, got me 6 months of it and recently mweb broke that too. I want my money back. Really, Will, who do i speak to to get my money back? Cause we should, we should get our money back for a service that isnt working. If i buy a chicken burger and get a rare beef burger, I can get my money back. Time to start looking into other means. 17 days before Cata, should actually start a campaign against you ****ers.

@Sillicur You can download TCPOptimizer and use it to restore default settings (www.speedguide.net), I don't believe that anything will have been changed to upset the use of services such as battleping - I tested reducethelag myself and found it to be working, vinnigepiet says that WTFast is working for him, at the moment and we have not had any other reports of Battleping not working.

We tested from 18h00 through to just after midnight last night shifting through various configurations to try and isolate exactly where on the network the latency gets introduced. We made some significant headway in this regard, but I can't share any information just yet as the real experts need a chance to interpret the findings and think about how we can use the information to come up with a solution.

I downloaded tcpOptimizer and drtcp, i run it as administrator on win 7 64bit, after every pc restart it reverts back to 750 lan. My ISP account changes get changed thou.

netsh interface ipv4 set subinterface "Local Area Connection" mtu=1500 store=persistent in cmd as Admin also changes it and the settings go back as soon as I restart windows.

With 960 MTU on ISP + battleping it seems to have calmed down today, 2k at start but it slowly drops to 350. As soon as my MTU is set to the default again thou, I get 20k ms with massive lag. After changing the MTU down, my shooters start lagging. So all in all, its a constant changing every time i want to get into a game.

if use a proxy best to leave it default , i leave it default , yeah ping starts high it sometimes take long to get to 300, but everything is near instant

When you run optimizer make sure you tick the modify all adaptors box, select the radio button for windows defaults at the bottom and click apply. You can say no to rebooting and then go into network settings disable and re-enable the network adapter to apply the changes. Reload Optimizer to see if the settings have stuck. Hereticangel is correct, don't touch the MTU if you're using a tunnel. I've set MTU at 1492 and applied the leatrix recommended fixes via optimizer. Look at the gaming tweak section under advanced settings, set the first two values to 1 and the 3rd to 0.

Its not working. I do exactly what you say, the MTU settings reset every time i restart windows. Yes, i have checked if they stay the same by running it again, it still says 1500 but when i reboot it says 750 again. Im not doing anything wrong here. At the point where i probably will have to reinstall my pc for nothing.

So the shaping isn't "dynamic" as previously claimed?

Lounger we are not here to discuss shaping policies, please can you refrain from attempting to spark an unconstructive debate.

No but some of us are getting angry with having 4mb lines that are acting like they are 56k dial up

Downloading a linux distro via ftp: 480KB/S estimated completion time for a 700mb file 25 minutes.

Current pings to WAGE and igame BC2 servers under 50ms

Current pings to MWEB Gamezone, under 50ms

Current throughput on torrents (2 well seeded files) between 120-160KB/s

Wow problems aside I would say that that looks like pretty decent performance to me.

That is far and beyond pretty decent, two years ago I would never have believed you if you told me we would have this much internet goodness :)
WoW problems aside, but hey... we working on that too :p

Try watching youtube at 480p after 10 at night, you can barely get 280p without it buffering like mad, while my back up IS account does 720p no problem at the moment.

@biometrics I've explained how our shaping works to Lounger on several occassions in as much detail as possible earlier in this thread. I really feel that it's ground that has been well covered and covering it again is not going to bring us any closer to resolving the issues at hand.

Can you guys have a look at Medal of Honor multiplayer?
Ive tried playing on the wage and igame servers (ping is usually between 10-70ms) and the game plays fine, but after a few minutes i get kicked and i dont know why, tried some uk servers and the same happens. there were no other downloads running and it doesnt seem to matter what time of day it is.

thanks

Hey guys have there been any breakthroughs from last nights testing? Still looks the same my end...?
